Welcome to the Deltek Vantagepoint 4.0.2 Release Notes, which describe the new features and enhancements introduced in this release.
These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 4.0, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.
Arkansas 2021 Tax Update
Arkansas recently released its 2021 Withholding Tax Employer’s Instructions. One of the changes is that the rate for supplemental wages has been reduced from 6.9% to 5.9% in 2021. For more information, see: https://www.dfa.arkansas.gov/images/uploads/incomeTaxOffice/withholdInstructions.pdf.
French Translation Improvements
On the More Calculations tab of Hubs » Projects » Billing Terms, the French (Canada) and French (France) translations for several fields have been improved.
Upgrade Touch Server to PHP 7.4.16
The Touch Server for this version of the Vantagepoint mobile application has been upgraded to support PHP 7.4.16.
The Vantagepoint splash page that appears when you first open the Vantagepoint software now displays the Vantagepoint name and version (release) number.
Defect 1447521: When you processed multiple transactions in Intercompany Billing, tax amounts for each transaction were calculated incorrectly if different general ledger accounts were used for each transaction. The Intercompany AP Posting and Tax Analysis reports incorrectly showed the entire total tax amount for each transaction, instead of the tax amount for each individual transaction.
Defect 1399041: This issue applies if you use Vantagepoint Analysis Cubes to create reports in Microsoft Excel. When you tried to display dimensions in the Row Labels column in Microsoft Excel, some dimensions were not displayed. You had to add a measure that is related to, or associated with, the missing dimension to have that dimension displayed in the Row Labels column in Excel.
Defect 1412390: When you sent the same invoice through email from both Batch Billing and Interactive Billing, the invoice file name was inconsistent in the email attachments.
Defect 1445228: On the Expenses tab in Interactive Billing, you received the following error message when you tried to modify a unit transaction more than once: "The column name 'Desc2' is specified more than once in the SET clause or column list of an INSERT. A column cannot be assigned more than one value in the same clause. Modify the clause to make sure that a column is updated only once. If this statement updates or inserts columns into a view, column aliasing can conceal the duplication in your code."
This issue occurred if you did not enter a value in the Billing Rate field for the unit in Settings » Accounting » Units.
Defect 1428980: The info bubble for Time and Expense line approvals displayed the wrong label for Supervisor when the requestor's supervisor was assigned as the approver.
Defect 1412177: On the Professional tab of the Employees form, when you clicked + Add Credential in the Credentials grid, the employee credential list displayed incorrect information. If you made a selection from the drop-down list, the Credential field reverted to an option that you previously selected.
Defect 1444647: When you used the import utility in Utilities » Imports and Exports » Imports to import user-defined employee information, the imported details were not reflected in the Employees hub.
Defect 1425875: When you tried to add an activity in the Firms hub, the Attendees and Firms fields under the Stakeholders section were not automatically populated with values, and when you attempted to add a value in the Attendee or Firm fields, you received an error message.
Defect 1446163: This issue applies if you use a CRM-only database and you do not have the Accounting module enabled. In the Firms hub, when you did not have access to the Vendor tab and you tried to copy a vendor record, you received the following error message: "Please provide Payment Terms for table Subconsultant/Vendor Accounting."
Defect 1427090: The Invoices form in the Projects hub incorrectly aged billed retainage based on the original invoice date, rather than based on the retainage invoice date.
Defect 1437005: In some cases, as you added lower-level work breakdown structure (WBS) elements to a new project, the Project Structure icon in the upper left of the form disappeared. As a result, you could not access the Project Structure dialog box to navigate through the WBS. The icon did not reappear until you logged out of Vantagepoint and logged back in.
Defect 1438164: If you tried to change information for a file on the Files & Links tab of the Projects form and that file was originally uploaded at a lower level of the work breakdown structure than you were currently at, you received a "FileID is not valid" error message and the change was not saved.
Defect 1438185: With a project selected on the Projects form, if you displayed the Edit Project Structure form and then cancelled it, the project number that should display in the upper-left portion of the Projects form below the project name was no longer visible. To make it reappear, you had to either navigate out of the Projects hub or select a different project.
Defect 1440860: This issue applies if you upgraded from Vision to Vantagepoint and you do not own the Vantagepoint Accounting module. When you created a new project, you incorrectly received warning messages about Intercompany Billing or Currency fields being secured.
Defect 1441053: This defect applied to customers who were upgrading from Vision to Vantagepoint. When you migrated an opportunity record from Vision that specified a firm's name in the Primary Client field, the primary contact associated with that opportunity record pre-filled in the Primary Client field in Vantagepoint. This issue occurred when the firm record did not have a value for the Addresses field in the Client Info Center in Vision.
Defect 1447463: Vantagepoint stopped responding when you tried to create a new project on the Projects form. This issue occurred when autonumbering was enabled for projects on the Numbering form in Settings » Workflow » Numbering and a second delimiter was used without a value entered for it in the Second Delimiter Position field on the form.
Defect 1348980: When you clicked the link in an email notification for absence requests, the Approval Center form was displayed but the approval record was not displayed.
Defect 1412987: Dashparts with the Favorite Report dashpart base were rebuilt every time that you displayed them in a dashboard, even when the Always Rebuild Report option was not selected on the Dashpart Designer form. This caused the dashpart to display the favorite report more slowly than it should have.
Defect 1435047: When you changed the presentation currency for the Billing Review predefined dashpart, the dashpart still displayed values in the Last Invoice Amt column that were based on the billing currency instead of the presentation currency.
Defect 1435327: When you included Milestones-related search criteria on the New Project Search dialog box for the Upcoming Milestones system dashpart, you received this error message: "Invalid table PRMILESTONE."
Defect 1438322: When you added an imported credit card charge to an expense report, changed the amount, and copied the expense line, the Merchant Description and Credit Card fields became blank in the new expense line.
Defect 1325030: When you were on the Labor Resource Actuals report form, online help for the report was not displayed when you clicked help (via the ? icon on the toolbar).
Defect 1416036: This issue applies for favorite reports that are based on the general ledger Income Statement report. Saved searches for the Organization field did not contain the exact search items that you entered when you completed the following steps:
You opened the report options for the report.
On the Options tab, you opened an existing saved search in the Organization field.
You deleted items from the saved search and re-saved the search.
Defect 1428718: This issue applies for calculated fields that were created in My Stuff » Reporting. On the Columns & Groups tab of report options, the option to edit calculated fields in the Columns grid was not available.
Defect 1435546: When you ran a Project Earnings report in which you had applied a calculated field that used the JTD Billing calculation and you also added custom fields, Vantagepoint returned no results in the custom field columns.
This issue occurred when you did the following:
On the Field Settings dialog box in Screen Designer » Projects, you created one or more custom fields.
In Settings » General » Calculated Fields, you did the following:
You set the Area option to Project.
You set the Report Type option to Project Earnings.
In the Option Name field, you entered the name of the custom field.
For the Perform Calculation On option, you selected All Detail and Total Lines.
In My Stuff » Reporting, you clicked Run on the Actions bar.
Defect 1435548: When you uploaded a custom report to a user-defined hub (for example, you uploaded the Vehicle Unit Crosscheck report to the Corporate Vehicle hub), the validity check did not correctly match the report type ID to the user-defined hub ID.
As a result, Vantagepoint uploaded the report to one or more other (non-related) user-defined hubs and the following issues occurred:
In the Name field of the Reporting form, the report name was either blank or appeared under a different name. For example the Vehicle Unit Crosscheck report name appeared to be missing or displayed as Master Contract or Equipment Tracking in the Master Contract and Equipment Tracking user-defined hubs.
You were unable to locate or update the custom report.
Defect 1435550: When you selected the A4 page size in My Preferences » Reporting and generated the Detailed Expense Report, the Amount column was removed from the printed report.
Defect 1435704: When you ran the Time Analysis report, the Suppress Details option did not work when you selected the following options:
On the Columns & Groups tab, you clicked +Manage Grouping.
On the Selected Groupings dialog box, you selected Discipline and other groupings.
On the Options tab, you selected the Suppress Details check box.
Instead of displaying column totals only, Vantagepoint displayed all the column details.
Defect 1435710: When you grouped and sorted the AR Aged report by project number, the report did not print the principal and project manager names beside the project number and name on the report as it should have.
Defect 1435712: When you ran the Employee Labor Detail report, it retrieved old labor posting data that skewed the account column values. As a result, the regular projects incorrectly displayed credit account values instead of debit values.
Defect 1437359: This issue applies if your CRM user role is neither an Administrator nor an Accounting security role. When you generated the Contract Management report, no details were included in the printed report.
Defect 1438448: In the Report Details options section of the Options tab of the Labor Resources Forecast report, even though you selected an option from the Select Generic Resources down-down list and then ran the report, no generic resources were displayed on the report.
Defect 1438451: If Accounts Receivable comments had no associated project number or invoice, the comments displayed under the Billing Client Number sort/group instead of the Project Number sort/group on the AR Aged Report.
This issue occurred when you did the following:
In Hubs » Firms » AR Review, you entered comments for accounts receivable entries.
On the Columns & Groups tab of the AR Aged Report Options, you selected Billing Client Number as your primary sort/group criterion.

Defect 1438454: For the AR Statement report, when you changed the values for Aging Increments in the Display Options section of the Options tab and then ran the report, Vantagepoint displayed the default values instead of the updated values that you entered.
Defect 1438464: When you ran the Field Security report based on search criteria to select employees only, the report returned additional application data (such as projects, contacts, and others). This issue occurred when you did the following:
In My Stuff » Reporting, you selected the Field Security report.
You set the Records option to Search.
In the Search Criteria section of the Screen Designer Search, you applied the following search properties:
You set the Add Field option to Application.
You set the Operator option to Equals (=).
In the Values field, you entered Employees.
You clicked Apply.
On the Actions bar of the Field Security report, you selected Run.
Defect 1438876: In Reporting, when you scheduled a saved favorite report, the process failed. The Failed status and detailed error message displayed for the report in Utilities » Process Server » Queue Manager.
Defect 1439041: For Hub Summary reports, the Reorder feature did not work. When you hovered over a user-defined field row in a user-defined grid, the Reorder This Row tooltip displayed, but the reorder icon (vertical ellipses) did not display. As a result, you could not drag the user-defined field to another place in the grid.
Defect 1439072: When you tried to create a report, you were unable to access some user-defined columns. This issue occurred when there was a mismatch of similarly named security roles and one of the two security roles hid user-defined fields, as in the following example:
Your security role name (for example, STANDARD_ROLE) closely matched that of another role (TEMPORARY_STANDARD_ROLE) and your role also allowed access to user-defined columns; and
The TEMPORARY_STANDARD_ROLE limited access to user-defined columns on the Select Columns dialog box) and also overrode the access rights to user defined columns for the STANDARD_ROLE.
When you clicked + Manage Columns on the Columns grid of the Column & Groups tab, you were unable to view or add these columns to the report.
Defect 1440183: If, when scheduling a project report to be emailed to recipients, you first selected a project role in To on the Email Report dialog box and then selected an employee in CC, those selections were gone if you later redisplayed the Email Report dialog box to review the recipients.
Defect 1441471: When you ran a Project Earnings report, the wrong value displayed in ETC Hours, due to a planning calculation error. This issue occurred when you specified the following options:
On the Columns & Groups tab, you clicked +Manage Columns.
On the Selected Columns dialog box, you selected the following columns:
Budgeted Hour
ETC Hours
EAC Hours
You clicked Apply.
In the Budget Details section of the Options tab, you:
Set the Budget Source option to Project Planning Budget.
Set the Choose Dates for Planning Calculation option to Specific Date.
Selected a specific date on the calendar.
On the Actions bar, you clicked Run.
Defect 1442856: When you ran the AP ledger balances on a Voucher Ledger or File Reconciliation report, the balances did not tally with the Voucher Schedule report. This issue occurred if the voucher payment was processed for multiple banks with different currencies and the final bank in the list used the same currency as the company that ran the payment processing.
Defect 1443606: When you set up several selection criteria in the Records/Saved Searches field and ran the Project Earnings report, you observed a CPU spike and encountered a performance issue.
Defect 1445080: When you generated the Asset Summary report that was saved as a global report, #Error was displayed in the total row for the GL Cost - Recognized Gain or (Loss) column.
Defect 1446226: On the Reporting form, the lookup in the Records field was slow to retrieve projects, accounts, units, or roles, compared to when you used the same lookup in their main hubs (such as the Project search field in the Projects hub).
Defect 1446231: On the Reporting form, when you used the lookup in the Records field of Project reports, there was a significant delay in retrieving results compared to when you used the same lookup (Project search field) in the Projects hub.
Defect 1450340: When you ran a report, one or more of the following performance issues occurred:
The Preview window was slow to display the report's results.
When you clicked the Search & Download icon on the Preview window, the search and download function stopped working.
In one instance, the following error was displayed: Server Error in Reporting Application. Server was unable to process request. An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Defect 1358291: When you previewed a detailed timesheet (Other Actions » Print), Vantagepoint displayed an extra (blank) page in the PDF file.
Defect 1438379: When you attempted to modify hours on a timesheet, you received this error message: "You have not been budgeted."
This issue occurred when you copied a timesheet, or added a project to a timesheet, before you configured budget validation on the Accounting tab of the Projects form for the project/phase/task. If you had many lines on your timesheet, you were unable to determine the WBS level at which the error occurred.
Defect 1442712: On the Timesheets form, when you switched to the Units setting and clicked a value in the Quantity field of an approved timesheet, the description that the submitter entered did not display.
Defect 1446180: When you tried to view approved timesheets of another employee, and that employee had created a timesheet for all periods, a blank page was displayed or you received a "No timesheet to view" error message.
Defect 1452609: On the Timesheet form, when you entered a project number or used the project lookup in the Project field for a timesheet line item, it took a long time for the project to display on the project lookup dialog box.
Defect 1445454: When you tried to approve an in-progress purchase order, the only option available in the Approvals list was Reassign.
Defect 1404826: When you selected a user-defined hub as a search criterion on the New Expense Report Search dialog box, the drop-down menu for the operator displayed the "No results were found" message instead of a list of available operators.
Defect 1418721: Active and Mine were incorrectly available as search filter options in the user-defined hubs' search drop-down list.
Defect 1435113: When you added a divider line to a form with Screen Designer, the label of the divider line displayed in two lines instead of a single line.
Defect 1441110: You were unable to save a user-defined hub. This issue occurred if the hub name and a grid column name for the hub, when combined, resulted in a component name that exceeded the 30-character limit.
Defect 1413392: This issue occurred on the Overview tab of the Roles form when you selected organizations using the New Search dialog box in the Organization Record Access field. After you clicked Apply All on the dialog box and navigated out of Roles Security, when you returned to the dialog box, it did not show your previous selections.
Defect 1443760: On the Approvals Configuration form in the desktop application, you encountered the following issues when you edited a workflow that contained a large number of approval steps:
When you deleted a single step, there was a significant delay in completing the action.
In some instances, you received error messages saying that a record already existed or that a key could not be null.
Defect 1428962: When you were setting up the auto numbering format for projects, with Leading Zeroes set to No, Vantagepoint incorrectly prevented you from using a hyphen (-) as part of the default value for a Character item on the Expression Configuration dialog box. If your auto numbering format does not include leading zeroes, special characters such as the hyphen should be valid.
Defect 1452107: On the User Initiated Workflows form, when you tried to add a condition to an Insert/Associate type workflow for the Projects area, the values for the Probability column were missing from the drop-down list in the Value field on the Conditions dialog box.
Defect 1435699: When you ran a Posting Log report that contained intercompany transactions, the General Ledger Posting Summary section displayed incomplete information. This issue occurred when you ran the report before and after you switched active companies and then returned to the posting owner's company to run the report again.
Defect 1437549: When you entered an amount less than 1.00 in the Invoice Amount field and saved the record, you received this error message: "Invoice Amount should be greater than Zero."
Defect 1443057: When you print the Transaction List report for an employee's timesheets, the total number of regular hours were doubled. This error occurred if:
You selected in-progress timesheets.
The selected timesheets were associated with two different companies and the values of the Period Ending field for both timesheets were the same.
Defect 1426939: Transaction Entry Hub Type drop-down fields did not honor the Role Option = Apply Record Access to All Transaction Centers setting. Some transaction types, such as AP Vouchers and AP Disbursements, incorrectly restricted the Vendor drop-down list (when the option was false). Other transaction types, such as Timesheets and Employee Expenses, were not restricting the Employee drop-down list when it should have been restricted (when the option was true).
Defect 1441150: This issue occurred when you navigated to Settings » General » Screen Designer » Activities and, in the Field Properties pane, you changed the Field Security setting for the Attendees field. The new security setting was not applied to all the fields related to the Attendees grid.
Defect 1438603: When you used the Enable Phases/Tasks key conversion utility, the last modified date and time under the project name on the Projects form (Hubs » Projects » Project) did not display the local time at which the conversion was performed.
Defect 1438084: When you used the Combine Records tab of the Tasks form (Utilities » Key Conversions » Tasks) to merge the last task under a phase to another task under a different phase, the compensation values at the project level were incorrect in the Contract Details grid on the Contract Tab of the Projects form (Hubs » Projects » Project).
This issue occurred if:
You set the Synchronize Contract Values to Project Compensation option to Yes in Settings » Project » Contract Management.
You selected the Include in Fees option on the Contract tab of the Contract Management form in Hubs » Projects » Contract Management.
Defect 1437983: When you opened a scheduled batch delete process, you received this error message: "An item with the same key has already been added." This issue occurred when you used more than one search criterion when you set up the process.
