Release Date: March 22. 2021
Last Updated: March 22, 2021
Welcome to the Deltek Vantagepoint 3.5.8 Release Notes, which describe the new features and enhancements introduced in this release.
These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 3.5, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.
Auto Numbering
In the Firms hub, if auto numbering is enabled for firms but the Number/ID field is locked for your user role, the firm number is automatically generated.
Improved Searching of Unit tables in Mobile T&E
This enhancement applies to Vantagepoint server 3.5.8 and above.
Mobile Time & Expense now allows you to find and select unit tables, regardless of how many unit tables your company has in the database. If the unit table search results require more than one page, a Load More Unit Tables link appears at the bottom of the screen.
You can also search for unit tables that sound the same. Use this type of search to locate unit table records that have variant spellings or that contain diacritical (accent) marks or special characters; for example Anne/Ann or Martin/Martine or Smith/Smyth/Smythe.
Menu Navigation Overview Video

Defect 1432478: When you modified and then transferred the labor amount in Interactive Billing, the Employee Labor Detail report displayed the modified row with a negative realization amount instead of zero.
Defect 1396388: In Interactive Billing, you received an "Invoice file <xxx> is locked by another user" error message when you tried to add an invoice to an existing transaction entry file on the Invoice File Selection dialog box. This issue happened if any of the following occurred after you created the new file and before you tried to add another invoice to the existing file in Interactive Billing:
You closed the Interactive Billing tab and, without moving to any other part of Vantagepoint, you logged out of Vantagepoint and then logged back in.
You navigated to another part of Vantagepoint and then closed the Interactive Billing tab.
Your computer went into sleep mode.
Defect 1397087: On the Interactive Billing form, when you tried to add a unit to the grid and used the Unit search field on the Billing Unit Insert dialog box to find the unit, it was slow to display units in the drop-down list in the Unit field.
Defect 1416845: This issue occurred on the Units tab in Interactive Billing when you opened the Billing Unit Insert dialog box to add a unit charge to bill. When you selected a unit, the Unit Table field was not automatically populated with a unit table (if the unit only belonged to one unit table) or the first unit table (if the unit was present in multiple unit tables).
Defect 1426197: If you transferred a partial amount of labor hours for two employees in Interactive Billing, the realization amount for the second transfer did not display on the Invoice Transaction Detail report.
This issue occurred if you has the following settings applied in Settings » Accounting » Labor Options:
Enable Reporting Realization by Employee was set to Yes.
Calculation Method was set to Billing.
Frequency was set to Invoice.
In Settings » Billing » Invoice Accounts, you entered the same invoice account for both the Fee and Labor sections that you entered in the Account field in Settings » Accounting » Labor Options.
Defect 1436664: Interest records for invoices that you accepted in Interactive Billing may have been incorrectly associated with a unit section rather than an interest section of the invoice. These records are now correctly associated as interest.
Review any cash receipts for invoices with interest paid to ensure that the interest is entered for the correct interest account and to ensure that the Interest check box was selected when the cash receipt was entered. You may see a discrepancy in the Accounts Receivable section of the File Reconciliation report in Utilities » Analysis » GL Reconciliation, resulting from cash receipts that were entered incorrectly for interest.
Defect 1419036: On the Invoice Approvals form, the Open in Draft Invoices row tool option at the end of a row in the Invoices grid did not display for approvers with access to the Draft Invoice Approvals menu and read-only record access to Billing Terms.
Defect 1426949: The Invoice Totals amount on the Invoice Approvals form was not updated after you edited the fee for an invoice. You edited the fee by clicking the row tools for an invoice in the Invoices grid and selecting Open in Draft Invoices. In Draft Invoice Approvals, you changed the percentage in the Percent Complete field on the Fees tab.

This issue occurred when the user who displayed the record did not have a default country specified on the My Preferences dialog box.
Defect 1429025: This issue occurred if you upgraded from Vision to Vantagepoint and a security role had access to all hubs in Vision but not all hub tabs. After you upgraded to Vantagepoint, when users with that role opened a record in a hub, they received a warning message about not having access to the ReadyforProcessing field.
Defect 1432677: This issue applies if you upgraded from Vision and your role settings did not have full access to firm and project records. When you viewed or created firm or project records in Hubs » Firms or Hubs » Projects, you received error messages. (This issue was caused by legacy role configuration settings that were migrated to Vantagepoint, but which were no longer applicable.)
Defect 1413051: On the Associations tab, when you clicked the firm name (that appeared as a hyperlink) in the Primary Client field, the ClientID of the firm was displayed.
Defect 1415148: If you had a user-defined opportunity lookup field in the Client info center in Vision and upgraded to Vantagepoint, that field was correctly converted to a project lookup field in the Firms hub in Vantagepoint, but the lookup still referenced the old Vision opportunity IDs, not the new Vantagepoint project IDs.

Defect 1405629: If your security role restricts you to read-only access for project records with Approved for Use in Processing selected on the Accounting tab of the Projects form, Vantagepoint still displayed the pencil icon next to some fields for those projects, appearing to indicate that you could edit the data in those fields. Though you actually could not change the data, the presence of the icon was confusing.
Defect 1408862: This issue occurred if the PR.CreateUser field was included under the Item column of the Project Auto Number Format grid in the Expression Configuration dialog box (Settings » Workflow » Numbering). When you created a new project record while automatic numbering was enabled, the assigned project number did not match the configured auto number format.

When you tried to search for an existing project in the Project field by entering the project name, the Project field sometimes did not display the existing project in the drop-down list of search results.
Defect 1428348: In some cases, when you changed a project's stage on the Projects form, the value in the Capacity Calculation field in the summary pane (Included in Scheduled and Utilization or Excluded from Scheduled and Utilization) appeared to be updated correctly based on the new stage, but actually it was not changed. As a result, if you later tried to save that project, you received an "Invalid Capacity Calculation" error message.
Defect 1436843: When you tried to add an activity to a project record, you received the following error message: "Record already exists and cannot be added." This issue occurred if a primary contact was specified for the firm in the Primary Client field on the Overview tab, which caused the firm to be populated twice on the Activities dialog box.
Defect 1426187: This issue occurred when you changed the currently selected accounting period to a prior period. If you set the date in the Basis for Planned Calculations JTD Through field on the Options dialog box in Project Review to the end date of that prior period, Project Review incorrectly displayed ETC planned billing hours, even though the project had no planned hours after that date.
Defect 1428826: On the Project Review form, when you displayed the details of a field (such as JTD Direct Consultants at Cost, JTD Direct Expenses at Cost, and so on), you could not expand to drill down into a vendor's details if their name contained a single quotation mark (').

When these product managers selected Approval Center » Timesheet Lines, they could correctly only see their approvals. However, when they clicked the date hyperlink on a timesheet line, they could incorrectly see the entire employee record and not just their assigned projects.

Defect 1424086: You were unable to add a new record in the Projects hub due to a custom field that Vantagepoint recognized as empty (blank). This issue occurred when you completed the following steps:
In Screen Designer for the Projects hub, you created a numeric field and then set its default value to a number that was not zero (blank).
In Settings » Workflow » User Initiated Workflows, you enabled a Validate Error action if your custom numeric field was empty.
You returned to Screen Designer and then changed the default value of the numeric field to 0 (zero).
