New Jersey Income Tax Withholding (Remainder of 2020)

New legislation enacted September 29, 2020, made several changes to the New Jersey Gross Income Tax Act as part of New Jersey’s Fiscal Year 2021 budget. The new law increases the Gross Income Tax rate for income between $1 million and $5 million and provides a new withholding rate for the remainder of 2020.

Effective January 1, 2020, the tax rate on that income bracket increases from 8.97% to 10.75%, regardless of filing status.

Effective immediately, employers must withhold Income Tax at the rate of 21.3% from salaries, wages, and other remuneration in excess of $1 million, but not in excess of $5 million, during the taxable year.

This higher withholding rate allows taxpayers affected by the rate increase to "catch up" on their withholdings for the year since the new tax rate is retroactive to January 1, 2020.

The Division of Taxation will not impose interest or penalties for insufficient payment of estimated tax and/or withholdings that may be due before September 29, 2020, if the underpayment is a result of the new tax rate.

Connect Add-in

Vantagepoint Connect Add-in

Use the Vantagepoint Connect add-in with Vantagepoint CRM to set up two-way synchronization of your contacts and calendar items with your email application. Integrating with Outlook and Exchange, Vantagepoint Connect provides a single point of entry for collaborating and sharing your contacts and calendar items with colleagues to nurture your client relationships. It also provides access to a scheduling assistant so you can share your availability with clients and quickly set up appointments.

VP Connect requires:

Use the Connect Administration Integration Utility in Utilities » Integrations to set up the users and associated profiles that will allow synchronization of contacts and calendar items via the email application to Vantagepoint. Utilities » Integrations also includes a Connect Sync Options Integration Utility that serves as a dashboard for synchronizing data between Vantagepoint and the Connect Add-in. You can schedule or manually force the synchronization process to occur.

The new Connect Add-in replaces the Microsoft Outlook Add-in that was previously available in Vantagepoint. Access to the previous Outlook Add-in feature was removed from the Vantagepoint application and the supporting online help topics were replaced with the updated Connect Add-in topics. This change includes replacement of the Microsoft Outlook Add-in Login URL from the System Info tab on the About » Help dialog box.

To use the new functionality, clients who were using the Outlook Add-in must uninstall it and then install the new Connect Add-in.

Dashboards

Performance improvements have been made to make dashparts with the project dashpart base load faster.

Mobile

The Touch Server for this version of the Vantagepoint mobile application has been upgraded to support PHP 7.4.14.

Defect 1402311: When you tried to save a promotional or overhead project in the Projects form, you received a "Please provide a Source for table Projects" error message and the project was not saved. This issue occurred due to a required field that was hidden and not applicable for promotional and overhead projects.

Defect 1402532: In Screen Designer for the Projects hub (Other Actions » Design), when you set the field security rights of the Project Plan Summary field to Secured, the details were still displayed in the summary pane of the Projects form.

Defect 1402846: When you set up a project and selected a value other than the active company in the Organization field on the Overview tab, the Unit Table field in the Expense section on the Accounting tab displayed a list of options from the active company, instead of the one that you selected on the Overview tab.

If you then navigated to Hubs » Projects » Project Review, opened the project associated with the voucher, clicked Options, and set the Basis for Planned Calculations, JTD Through option to Today's Date, the AP voucher amount did not display in the Direct Consultants row.

Mobile >> Mobile Time and Expense

Defect 1398140: When you created a timesheet line without comments and saved it, an error message was displayed in the required Comments field; However, the error message showed the previous date and not the date on which you created the timesheet line. As a result, you were not able to include comments in the timesheet line. This error was time zone dependent--it occurred in the Eastern and Central US time zones--and only appeared for timesheet lines with a special category.

Defect 1400531: When you copied a timesheet for which a comment is required, the Comments field was not triggered automatically when you added new hours on a regular project in the copied timesheet.

Defect 1404204: When you copied any timesheet, the hours entered on the timesheet were displayed incorrectly if comments were required and the copying process took place in the Eastern US time zone.

Defect 1407096: When you edited an expense line in the rejected expense report and tapped DONE, you were redirected to the main screen and you were not able to edit the other expense lines because all the fields and buttons became disabled.

My Stuff >> Approval Center

Defect 1268107: When you used Approval Center actions to process approval records, no visual indicator was displayed to let you know that the process was in progress. Now when you perform Approval Center actions, the "Please Wait..." message with the spinning wheel animation is displayed.

This occurred if you have only the Vantagepoint CRM module activated (with no other modules) or you have only the CRM and CRM Plus modules activated (with no other modules).

My Stuff >> Expense Report

Defect 1391611: This issue occurred when you added an expense line and selected a promotional project in the Project field. If you then changed this value and saved the record, you received the following error message: "Field 1 does not exist".

Defect 1392905: When you edited the copied expense lines during the expense report approval process, the edited expense lines were not included and the total expenses amount was incorrect on the Transaction List report.

Defect 1393773: In an expense line, when you selected a project and entered a category, the Account field was pre-filled with an indirect account. If you manually selected a value in the Account field, you were not able to select a reimbursable or direct account.

This issue occurred when you selected a project in the Project field on the Expense Report form and your role had restrictions for the project (set on the Record Access tab in Settings » Security » Roles).

Defect 1393783: In an expense line, the Bill option was not automatically selected even if the selected value in the Expense Category field was configured to bill the firm for expense items. This issue occurred in the following situations:

Defect 1405865: When you displayed an expense report record, the Submitted status was displayed beside the expense report name, while the Awaiting Submit status was displayed in the approvals timeline. This prevented the approval process from continuing. The mismatched status settings occurred when you accessed another area of Vantagepoint immediately after submitting an expense report. As a workaround, after submitting an expense report, check the status displayed beside the expense report name and the approval timeline before accessing another area.

Defect 1405867: The Unsubmit action on the Expense Report form is now available to use when the approval process is not proceeding as expected.

Defect 1408294: The following issue applied when you used expense report approvals and your approval workflow was configured as follows:
