Welcome to the Deltek Vantagepoint 3.0.3 Release Notes, which describe the new features and enhancements introduced in this release.
These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 3.0, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.
In Utilities » Imports & Exports » Exports, the following data packs with the data pack category DELTEK have been updated to include additional columns for creating data export definitions. When you create a new data export definition, select DELTEK in the Data Pack Category field, and select either of these data packs on the Select Columns dialog box, you see the new columns added to the Available Columns list on the dialog box.

When you ask Hey Deltek questions, it now has the ability to automatically open the Vantagepoint online help and display the topics in the help Search Results pane that may answer your questions. The search results will automatically open if you enter phrases such as:

If the CRM module is activated but the CRM Plus module is not, you now have access to the Background tab on the Project Templates form in the desktop application. You can use the Description grid on that tab to add default description text for project templates and use the Awards grid to specify default award information.
Prior to version 3.0.3, you had to have the CRM Plus module to access the Background tab. (You must still have CRM Plus to have access to the Project Codes grid on that tab.)

The Touch Server for this version of the Deltek Vantagepoint mobile application has been upgraded to support PHP 7.3.15.
Defect 1237821: When you ran Accounting » Absence Accruals with the Include All option selected but did not select any timesheet entries in Postings This Period For Hours Worked Method, accruals were still processed for employees with Hours Worked/Hours Worked Schedule set up as their Method to Include.
Defect 1256082: When an individual had multiple timesheets in the Adjust Salaried Job Cost process, the cash basis posting to the general ledger was not in balance. This issue occurred if:
You have Cash Basis Reporting and Enable Cash Basis Posting for Labor Transactions set to Yes in Settings » General Ledger » Options.
Your job cost variance account is a cash account mapped to a different account for cash basis and accrual postings.
Defect 1256132: If you had Transaction Center approvals enabled for journal entries and you tried to approve a journal entry file created by Labor Cross Charges that contained $0 amounts, you received an error message.
Defect 1265433: Certain letters in a project’s name were not printing correctly in the heading of the Billing Backup report. However, the letters printed correctly on the Billing invoices. The letters that did not print correctly had a mark above, below, or through them. Examples are Ä, á, ö, ø, and so on.
Defect 1255637: When you were in a prior accounting period and you processed a final invoice in Batch Billing, the correct billed period was not assigned to work-in-progress items accepted with the invoice.
Defect 1257904: When you used Client Invoice Approvals and the approvals were set up to email the approver if more than three invoices were sent for approval by a particular approver, the email only showed information for two projects.
Defect 1256049: On the Billing Groups form, when you clicked + Add Sub Project below the Projects included in Billing Group grid, you received the following error message: “An error has occurred.”
Defect 806769: When a partial transfer was only partially billed because some of it was written off and then voided, the entire original amount was returned to Interactive Billing. In addition, the partial amount that was actually billed was returned to Interactive Billing.
Defect 1255779: On the Labor tab in Interactive Billing, this issue occurred when you clicked the filter icon on the Labor grid toolbar. When you selected Billing in the Status filter field and moved off the Status field, the grid correctly displayed only billed items. Then, when you clicked the X in the Status field and moved off the field, undefined displayed in the Status field. The field should have been blank.
Defect 1265740: In Interactive Billing, you received the following error message when you created an invoice, accepted it, and tried to create a new invoice file for it on the Invoice File Selection dialog box: "You do not have rights to add records." This occurred when you had rights to access Interactive Billing and create invoices.
Defect 1271345: This issue occured when you tried to modify a transaction on the Labor tab in Interactive Billing. On the Billing Labor Modify dialog box, you were unable to select a custom labor category that had been added directly to a billing labor category table in Settings » Rate Tables Billing Labor Categories, instead of added to the Labor Category list in Settings » Labels and Lists » Lists.
Defect 1250503: When you selected the Receipts or Payments tab on the Bank Reconciliation form and clicked Clear All or Unclear All on the Payments grid toolbar, the payment rows were not selected or cleared (unchecked) accordingly in the Cleared column of the grid.
Defect 1261869: When you changed the value in the Terms field in the Select Vouchers to Pay grid of the Vendor Payments form, the value in the Payment Amount field did not save and then reverted to 0.00.
Defect 865103: In some cases when you downloaded records from List view for a hub, the comma-separated values (.CSV) file that was created included the special character '' seemingly at random among the data.
Defect 1261930: When you created a new activity in the Activities hub, the Owner field automatically populated with the default owner. If you added an attendee and saved, and then changed the attendee to be the same as the owner, the Owner field for the activity was populated in Detail view but blank in List view.
Defect 1258417: When your role did not have access rights to the Accounting tab in the Employees hub, you received an error message if you tried to access an employee record from the employee time card in My Stuff » Timesheets.
Defect 1262741: For the AR Review report, when you set the Aging Date option to Today's Date, the report did not display the correct date. The report also used the previous day as the date for the following day.
Defect 1248187: This issue applies if you have multiple currencies in Vantagepoint and multiple work breakdown structure (WBS) levels for projects.
In the Projects hub, you were incorrectly allowed to save changes to the project and billing currencies for a project in the following scenario:
The project had already been used in transactions (using the previously entered project and billing currencies).
You opened a lower-level WBS item for the project (such as a phase or task), and you changed the project currency or billing currency in the fields in the Project Details section on the Overview tab.
Now if you change the project or billing currency for a project at a lower level of the WBS and the project has already been used in transactions, the currency changes are not saved.
Defect 1256115: Both the Edit Project Structure form and the List View for the Projects hub took too long to display.
Defect 1257868: When you enabled the Allow Override of Project Number option for Project in Settings » Workflow » Numbering and you created a promotional project from within the project structure, the Project Number field was grayed out and unavailable in the Projects hub.
Defect 1262751: When you opened the Project Structure form, clicked Edit, and then manually dragged columns on the Edit Project Structure grid and clicked Save, the new column order was not saved when you returned to the project. This defect only occurred if you had never previously clicked the Grid Settings icon to change the column order.
Defect 1270191: This issue occurred if you made the Project Manager field in the Projects hub a required field. In Billing Terms, you received a "Please provide a Project Manager for the table BT" error when you did the following:
On the Billing Terms form, you clicked + Add Billing Terms to create new billing terms for a project.
On the Add Billing Terms dialog box, you set the Create Billing Terms field to Manually and then clicked Add.
On the Billing Terms form, you clicked Save without making any entries on the form or any of the tabs.
Defect 1216340: When you clicked Add Labor and entered a part of valid labor code number or name in the Labor Code field on the Labor tab of the Budget form, no search results were returned.
Defect 1260652: If you logged on to Vantagepoint with English (International) selected as the language, a field label on the Budget form in the Projects hub was incorrectly displayed as Labor Percent Complete rather than Labour Percent Complete.
Defect 1256708: If you use CRM or CRM Plus only databases, the Aged Accounts Receivable dashpart was incorrectly displayed on the Dashboard form of the Projects hub.
Defect 1219507: If an invoice had a credit memo that included a tax amount, that tax amount was incorrectly excluded from the amount displayed in the Credit Memos column when you viewed the invoice information in the grid on the Invoices form in the Projects hub.
Defect 1258771: In the Contract tab of the Plan form, the project level line item did not display the correct total values when a copied phase level with values was added to the project.
Defect 1185890: The red asterisk symbol used to indicate required fields did not display when you changed any of the six key employee fields on the Overview tab of the Projects form to become a required field in Screen Designer.
Defect 1204943: On the Select Searches list in the Projects hub, when you selected + New Search and then selected Invoices » Invoice for your search criterion, Vantagepoint returned only the unpaid invoice records in the search results, instead of all invoice records.
Defect 1236775: This issue applied when data validation workflows were set up to be initiated when a new project was created. If you added both a regular project and a linked promotional project as part of the same project creation process, the workflows functioned correctly for the regular project but not for the promotional project. When you saved the projects, the workflows incorrectly ran twice against the regular project data, rather than once to validate the regular project data and a second time to validate the promotional project data.
Defect 1248007: When you created a new project but you did not have access to the Team tab of the Projects form, you received a "Contact does not exist" error message.
Defect 1249428: If you created a new custom drop-down field for the Projects hub in the Screen Designer and there were project records that included a blank version of the field, the Project Search excluded the records with blank values when you filtered the custom drop-down list with the < > operator.
Defect 1254484: When you updated the Project Manager, Principal, or Supervisor field for a project while in the list view of the Projects form, an employee was added to the Team Members grid of the Team tab (in the detail view of the Projects form) as expected. However, the Team Status field for the added employee was blank when it should have displayed the default value, “Proposed”.
Defect 1255648: On the New Project Search dialog box, when you edited a saved project search entry and selected Does not contain as the operator in Advanced Settings, the search results were incorrect.
Defect 1258396: In Screen Designer for Projects, when you edited the Field Security setting of the project Plan Summary field on the Field Security Rights dialog box, the setting on the Field Security Rights dialog box reverted to the previous configuration when you logged out of Vantagepoint and then logged in again.
Defect 1259515: When you tried to create a set of new projects by copying an existing project multiple times, the time that it took to display the Edit Project Structure form became progressively slower with each new copy.
Defect 1262551: In the Projects hub, you were unable to make selections using the search in the Project Manager and Principal-in-Charge fields. Field security settings that caused this issue have been fixed.
Defect 1266056: When you created a new project using a project template, the addresses specified on the project template's Location tab were not imported to the new project.
Defect 1251076: When one of the multiple, assigned approvers approved a step in an approval workflow, the Approval Timeline incorrectly displayed "Multiple Approvers" instead of the individual approver's name.
Defect 1248594: When you accessed the Dashboards form, you received the error message: "An item with the same key has already been added." This occurred if you and another user created the same custom field at the same time in Screen Designer.
Defect 1253200: This issue applies to dashparts with the project dashpart base: when you included a column related to contract amounts, such as the Contract Compensation column, the value displayed in that column was incorrect.
Defect 1261837: When you created or modified a dashpart with the project dashpart base, the dashpart did not display the correct information when you used a custom field (created in Screen Designer) as a search criterion on the New Project Search dialog box.
Defect 1270193: If you displayed the Billing Terms Review dashpart in a dashboard, the dashpart data did not display for firms with large databases.
Defect 1268234: When you modified or created an expense report with multiple expense line items, and each expense line item had supporting documents/receipts, it took longer than normal to save the expense report. Performance was also affected when you uploaded supporting documents/receipts to multiple expense line items for an expense report.
Defect 1269093: In Expense Report, when you clicked Custom in the list in the search field, the Custom Search dialog box displayed, but it was blank and unresponsive.
Defect 1183483: When you sorted the Accounts Receivable » AR Aged report by Primary Client Number on the Columns & Groups tab, the related comments did not display on the generated report.
Defect 1190131: The date option format for the Timesheet Audit Detail report did not follow the format set in the Date Format field on the General tab in My Preferences.
Defect 1244810: On the Columns tab of the Key Financial Metrics report, the Backlog - Billing Currency and Backlog - Project Currency columns were available even though multiple currencies were not enabled in the database.
Defect 1248073: When you generated the Labor Resource Forecast report with the All Employees and Generic Resources options selected, employees who were not assigned to any projects were excluded.
Defect 1251196: On the Options tab of the Account Analysis report, The Report In field displayed the Project Currency option instead of the Functional Currency option.
Defect 1251627: When you included date and time fields from the Dates & Costs tab in the Projects hub on a project report, the time was not displayed correctly on the report.
Defect 1253094: When all three WBS levels on the Unbilled Detail and Aging report were set to Show Employee Totals on the Options tab and Collapsed on the Columns & Groups tab, the report detail did not display for line items that had a single line entry on the report.
Defect 1255735: On the New Employee Search dialog box of the Timesheet Audit Detail report, when you selected the Employees - Group category, you were unable to enter or select the name of a specific group in the Add Value field.
Defect 1255977: When you used the Search and Download option while previewing a report, the results grid did not display the correct date format and included a time stamp.
Defect 1257706: When you ran the Time Analysis report, you received the following error message: "SQL Reporting Error creating Time analysis RDL file..." This occurred if you included a calculated field in the report, but did not include columns for the fields used in the calculation.
Defect 1257776: You could not delete the Account Type grouping under the Group By column in the Grouping and Sorting section of the Columns & Groups tab for two reports:
the Balance Sheet report of General Ledger
the Consolidated Balance Sheet report of Consolidated GL
Defect 1258461: When your role did not have access to Settings » Cash Management » Accounts Payable, the Search and Download option would not work from a generated report.
Defect 1260563: When the Promo Project JTD Hours column was included in the Project Hit Rate report, the column remained blank for linked promotional projects even though the projects included hours spent.
Defect 1261892: The format for the Probability field was displayed as currency instead of numeric.
Defect 1262729: When you customized the Proposal Manager label in Settings » Labels and Lists » Labels, the updated label did not display in the Project List report.
Defect 1262745: When you tried to save a report as a favorite and you selected the drop-down arrow in the Save For field on the Save Report dialog box, you received a "You do not have access" error. This occurred if both of the following applied for your role security on the Overview tab in Settings » Security » Roles:
Save Rights for Reports, Searches, and Options were set to Save for All Roles or Save for My Roles, which allows you to save favorite reports.
You did not have access to the Security » Roles application, which should not have affected your ability to save favorites.
Defect 1263093: When you generated the Field Security report, an error message was displayed in the report window instead of the report.
Defect 1263214: The Description 2 column on the Account Analysis report contained incorrect text. This occurred when you created, saved, and posted a Cash Receipt transaction without a description.
Defect 1264797: When you tried to open the Cash Flow Statement report and your security role allowed access to Reporting only, you received this error message: "You do not have access."
Defect 1265081: This issue applied if you used a Multicompany database. When you copied saved report options, the options did not save from one company to another company.
Defect 1266826: When you created a custom report and then selected a project record for the report in the Reporting application, you received an error message.
Defect 1267473: This issue applied on certain monitors, when you selected the Favorites tab to view reports and you had many legacy reports (indicated by an * appended to the end of the report names). When you scrolled down the report list, the Grid Options icon that appeared when you hovered over the right-most end of a record row did not line up with the rest of the row.
Defect 1237866: When a timesheet did not have a value entered in the Hours field, an error occurred and the approval process could not be completed.
Defect 1095852: The status for timesheets that you submitted changed from Submitted back to In Progress without displaying an error message.
Defect 1134473: The following issue applies if you use approval workflows for timesheet lines, and on the Workflow tab in Settings » Workflow » Approval Workflows, you set up a timesheet line approval workflow with a rejection action that was configured with the Approval Roles field set to Create User (on the Email Configuration dialog box). In My Stuff » Approval Center, when a submitted timesheet was rejected, the rejection email alert was not sent to the employee who created the timesheet for the employee.
Defect 1193071: When you added a project and time to a missing timesheet and then submitted and saved the timesheet, the status of the timesheet displayed as Awaiting Submit.
Defect 1242491: The date displayed on the Approval Timeline after you submitted or approved a timesheet was not the local time of your computer (as it should have been).
Defect 1254494: When a new user logged in for the first time and then attempted to create a timesheet, Vantagepoint stopped functioning.
Defect 1256081: When a timesheet was populated from a plan where the employee had planned hours, the Labor Category did not populate in the timesheet but displayed correctly when you posted the timesheet.
Defect 1261956: Approved timesheets that have timesheet lines with no values for hours worked did not display in the Time and Expense Posting form.
Defect 1238435: Some applications that your security role was not allowed to access could be displayed in the Navigation pane. When you tried to access one of these applications, you received an error message.
Defect 1249443: The employee name displayed in the Owner field, found in the email notification that was sent when activities were created, was incorrect sometimes.
Defect 1262280: The Dismiss All option in the Notification Center did not work.
Defect 1251118: This issue applies if you use the Outlook add-in for Vantagepoint. In the Windows Desktop version of Microsoft Outlook, when you tried to add an activity for an email, a message should have displayed when an activity already existed for the email.
Defect 1261881: If you clicked Clear All in the search pane in Resource View to clear the current search values and then, as part of your new search, you selected organizations to search by, a 03% organization was added to the set of organizations that you selected on the Select Organization dialog box. Sometimes this occurred when you were selecting organizations and sometimes when you clicked Search in the Resource View search pane. As a result, the top-level organization was included in the search. If you did not remove that organization, the search may have returned resources that did not meet your intended criteria.
Defect 1262575: When you tried to use a saved search that was created in DPS 1.0 in the Saved Searches field of the Resource View form, the saved search did not work.
Defect 1270192: In Resource View, when you searched for an organization in the Organization Name field, you received an "Invalid column name 'Organization'" error.
Defect 1251751: You were able to assign an overhead project in the Project field in the Invoice section of the Intercompany Billing Setup dialog box and to post the invoice. However, when you tried to create a cash receipt against the invoice, you received this error message: "AR account requires regular type project."
Defect 1264660: When you selected or cleared the System Approvals option in the Approvers grid in Settings » Accounting » Transactions, the wrong employee names and numbers displayed in the Employees list in the grid.
Defect 1253561: When you selected Settings » Billing » Default Terms, you received the following warning message: "Field FullAdress has been secured for your role. Please check permissions." This occurred if your security role gave you access to only the Default Terms application in Vantagepoint.
Defect 1255609: On the NACHA File Format tab of the Banks form, you should have been able to enter any value in the Identification Code Designator field, as well as selecting an item in the field's drop-down list.
Defect 1255056: The value for the Tax Region was incorrectly stored as a country instead of a region. This resulted in Billing Terms not finding a relevant tax code.
Defect 1259789: This issue applied when you added a label on the Screen Designer form (Other Actions » Add Label) for the Contacts hub. If you edited the caption value of the new label on the Caption dialog box (by clicking the pencil icon in the Caption field), the label value that you entered in the Caption dialog box was not applied to the new label when you clicked Apply. However, when you entered the label value directly in the Caption field, the caption value was applied to the new label.
You can also display the Screen Designer form for the Contacts hub by clicking Other Actions » Design on the Contacts form (Hubs » Contacts).
Defect 1260632: When you edited the Secured/Hidden/Displayed column on the Field Security Rights dialog box and saved the change that you made, the column value reverted to Secured when you displayed the dialog box again.
Defect 1260718: Users with the Project Manager role were not able to modify project information in the Projects hub even when the Project Manager role was configured correctly on the Roles form of Security Settings.
Defect 1262715: When you used the Application Tabs dialog box to select which application tabs a role could access, Vantagepoint did not save the changes.
Defect 1257654: When you tried to access the Users form, the Please Wait spinning wheel was displayed and the Users form did not display. This occurred if your role did not have access to the Settings » Security » Password Policies application.
Defect 1252792: When you logged in with the Language field set to English International, the word "Labor" in the Labor Billing Transfer Audit alert was misspelled in Settings » Time » Alerts.
Defect 1244156: In the User Defined Fields grid in Settings » Time » Options, you could enter unlimited text for a tool tip. However, when you viewed the tool tip in My Stuff » Timesheet, the text was limited to 450 characters.
Defect 1256191: When you configured an email on the Email Configuration dialog box for a user-initiated workflow or scheduled workflow with an Email Alert action or Notification action, the Apply button was not enabled after you added an employee in the To field. This prevented you from saving the changes made on the Email Configuration dialog box.
Description: In some fields, if you entered a value that did not follow the formatting in Deltek Vantagepoint, the values that you entered displayed in black font and without underlining, which incorrectly indicated that you could not tap them
Defect 1208894: You were able to view notifications for AP Invoice Approvals, but you were not able to approve the submitted AP Invoice. This issue occurred when:
The approval administrator assigned you as a delegate on the Assign To dialog box in Settings » Workflow » Approval Workflows (in the desktop application).
The submitter did not specify a value for the Route To option in the AP Invoice Approvals Form.
Defect 1241400: The approval timeline displayed one approval step per page instead of showing all steps on a single page.
Defect 1247932: This issue applies if you use AP invoice approvals. Closed purchase orders with partial amounts appeared in AP Invoice Approvals.
Defect 1254923: If you entered a project but did not enter a lower-level WBS element for an AP invoice, Vantagepoint stopped functioning when you submitted the AP Invoice for approval.
Defect 1257761: When you hovered your cursor over a Project, Phase, Task, or Account field in the Project Detail grid of the AP Invoice Approvals form, you were not able to see the value of the field name.
Defect 1260717: On the AP Invoice Approvals form, when you tried to approve the last step for an AP invoice and the step had the Create Voucher action turned on, you received the following error message: "You do not have access to AP Vouchers transactions."
This occurred when your security role had the following entries on the Accounting tab in Settings » Security » Roles:
The Full access to all Transaction Types check box was not selected.
In the Transactions Types grid, the Enter check box was selected for the AP Vouchers transaction type, and the <All Types> transaction type was also entered in the grid with the Enter check box not selected for it.
In this scenario, having the Enter check box selected for the AP Vouchers transaction type should have allowed you to successfully complete the AP invoice approval step.
Defect 1230729: When you printed a posting log from Transaction Center » Posting Review, the Report Options window opened but the report did not display.
Defect 1256076: When you selected timesheet or expense report transactions to print in Transaction Center » Time and Expense Posting, the selections in the grid were lost after you reviewed the report.
Defect 1242030: When you previewed a transaction list in Transaction Center » Transaction List » Miscellaneous Expenses, the name of the company displayed in the report header. However, if you used Utilities » Change Company to change companies, the header in the transaction list still displayed the name of the original company instead of your updated company selection.
Defect 1228984: On the Transaction Entry » All Transactions form, the invoice transactions displayed each row of the file instead of a single row, as it does on the Transaction Entry » Invoices form. The All Transactions form should only display one row, since Invoices are grouped in files regardless of the Use Files to Group Transactions setting.
Defect 1173992: This defect applies if you have multiple companies in Vantagepoint and you enabled Transaction Center Approvals in Settings » Accounting » Transactions. When you tried to approve a journal entry transaction, you received an error message that asked you to enter amounts for each line in the transaction file.
Defect 1231353: In Transaction Center » Transaction Entry » Journal Entries, when you tried to post a journal entry file for transactions that you processed in Accounting » Labor Cross Charge in a prior accounting period, you received the following error message "You cannot post the following transactions because the dates are not within the current Accounting Period." The wrong end date was picked up in Labor Cross Charges.
Defect 1265291: When you imported a TXT file for equipment in the Data Import utility of the desktop application, you received an error message if the Depreciation Expense Account field of the equipment record was associated with an account that had the Other Charges account type.
Defect 1232548: If you changed and saved values in the Absence Accruals grid of the Absence Accrual form and then worked in a different application, when you returned to the Absence Accrual form, the changes that you made had reverted and the fields displayed their previous values. In some cases, the changed fields displayed different values altogether (neither the changes that you made nor the previous values).
Defect 1225517: When you used a multicompany database, the Rate fields in Utilities » History Loading » Labor & Expense displayed the default amounts from the Employees hub. However, when you saved, these fields were disabled and you could not change the rate.
Defect 1216454: When you tried to import firms, the owner name from the employee record was not added to the list in the Our Team grid on the Our Team tab in Hubs » Firms » Firms.
Defect 1246874: When you imported contacts using the Contacts import in the browser application, it was difficult to map contact address fields in your import file to the correct address fields in Vantagepoint because all of those field names were displayed as Address in the drop-down list for Deltek Field on the Import Contacts from CSV dialog box. To resolve this issue, the field names now display in the drop-down list as Address 1, Address 2, Address 3, and Address 4.
Defect 1270190: On the Integrations Manager form, when you tried to modify an integration in the grid, you received a console error.
Defect 1257766: When an activity was created in Outlook for Vantagepoint, the Owner field defaulted to an attendee instead of the user who was adding the activity.
Defect 855038: If your firm uses PIM integration (Utilities » Integrations » PIM), the country fields for addresses of Vantagepoint records that were synced with PIM displayed the country code that Vantagepoint used, instead of the country's name.
Defect 1258678: When your firm uses multiple companies: on the Disable Phases/Tasks form, you could select projects (WBS1s) and phases (WBS2s) that had lower-level work breakdown structure elements that did not belong to the active company.
Defect 1210870: When you used the Enable Phases/Tasks utility to add a phase to a project, the following errors occurred in Projects » Billing Terms:
Billing phase categories disappeared.
Taxes were not applied in the invoice preview.
When you added a second phase to the project using the Enable Phases/Tasks utility, and Enable Posting by Billing Phase was selected on the Fees tab of Billing Terms, the billing fees that should have been posted to the second phase were instead posted to the first phase.
Defect 1243112: When you used the key conversion utility to merge duplicate project records without the Planning module enabled, you received this error message: "The following plans are not published."
