Deltek Vantagepoint 2.0.4 (Build 2.0.4.5134) Release Notes
Last Updated: May 20, 2019
Welcome to the Deltek Vantagepoint 2.0.4 Release Notes, which describe the new features and enhancements introduced in this release.
Contents of Release Notes
These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 2.0, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.
Improved handling of requests to open hub records
When you ask Hey Deltek! to open a specific hub record that yields multiple results, Hey Deltek! responds with the results displayed in a list, to allow you to choose the exact record that you need. For example, you say, "Retrieve the vendor record named Universal Supplier," and Hey Deltek! responds with the following message:
"Multiple records were found. Click the correct one below:
1. Universal Supplier North
2. Universal Supplier East"
For a request that yields more than 5 results, Hey Deltek! takes you to the corresponding record hub, populates the Search field with the results, and displays the following message:
"Multiple records were found. Select one from the dropdown."
For more information, see Hey Deltek! in the online help.
Maconomy Integration Updated to Support the Merging of the Opportunities Hub with the Projects Hub
Vantagepoint has been updated in this release to support the integration of Maconomy with the Projects hub in Vantagepoint. (Maconomy has also been updated to support this integration.)
In DPS 1.1.x, the setup process that you run from the Maconomy form (Integrations > Maconomy) created workflows, a Maconomy tab, and custom fields for Maconomy data in the Opportunities hub. In Vantagepoint 2.0.x, the Opportunities hub no longer exists, and potential contracts previously set up as opportunities are now set up as in pursuit projects. To support this change, the integration setup process now creates workflows, the Maconomy tab, and user-defined fields for Maconomy data in the Projects hub.
While you can set up a project with more than one work breakdown structure (WBS) level, data that comes from Maconomy through the integration is available only at the top level of the WBS.
Data Import and Multicurrency
When you use multiple currencies, there may be instances in which you need to import cash receipts for which the receipt currency and source currency are different, or for which no source amount is specified.
The Data Import utility for Cash Receipts allows you to import amounts in different currencies or automatically calculate a source amount during the import process. In this case, Data Entry Mapping grids for Text and ODBC differ as follows:
The Amount column is labeled Receipt Amount.
A Source Amount column displays. This column remains blank for non-invoice receipts. You can enter data in this field, or have the field populate with an exchanged amount. The field only populates if there is data in the invoice field and the billing currency differs from the bank currency. This is calculated as: Receipt Amount * exchange rate based on Trans Date.
When you are also using multiple companies, the Data Entry Mapping grids for Text and ODBC differ as follows:
There is a new row called Due From Company. This row expects a company code that is different from the company assigned to the current cash receipt.
This field is required if the account is defined as a journal entry or transfer cost account in Intercompany Billing.
The import process validates both of these requirements.

Updated PHP Version
The Touch Server for this version of the Deltek VantagePoint mobile application has been upgraded to support PHP 7.3.4.
Defect 1103465: There were performance issues when loading hub records that included very large grid tables.
Defect 1108023: In list view in hubs, users were able to see, enter, and edit values for essential fields from tabs that were hidden from their security role. Now when a tab is hidden for a security role, the essential fields on the tab are locked by default. In detail view in the hubs, the tab remains hidden from users. In list view in the hubs, users can see but not enter or change the values in locked essential fields from hidden tabs. This applies for all essential fields on a tab, including essential fields that are in grids and compound fields with essential field components.
Defect 1066799: This issue applies if you use Microsoft Internet Explorer. When a user's security role had Read Only rights to a hub, the scrollbars for all the association grids in the hub did not work; you were unable to see all the records in the grids. Association grids are the grids on any of the tabs, such as the Activities grid on the Activities tab, the grids on the Team tab, and the Marketing Campaigns grid on the Marketing Campaign tab.
Defect 1092802: You could not link a contact to a firm record when the firm had Record Level Update access rights on the Record Access tab in Settings » Security » Roles.
Defect 1108755: In the Firms hub, there were no results in the Primary State drop-down list when it was used in a new search.
Defect 1103740: When you added a milestone in the grid on the Dates & Costs tab of the Projects form, or you selected a different value in Milestone for an existing grid row, the milestone code, rather than the description, displayed in Milestone after the milestone was saved.
Defect 1113114: When you updated the Project Type field for a project in the Projects hub, the project type was not updated for that project’s tasks in the database.
Defect 1096880: If you logged into Vantagepoint with a username that had more than 16 characters and you tried to delete phases or tasks, you received an error and were not able to delete the phase or task.
Instead, you were required to log in using a different username with 16 characters or fewer to successfully delete phases or tasks. This occurred both in the desktop and browser Vantagepoint applications.
Defect 1110265: On the Teams tab in Hubs » Projects » Project, when you added a firm to the Firms grid, the firm name did not display correctly in the Name column.
Defect 1105963: When user-defined tabs were migrated from the Opportunities hub to the Projects hub after upgrading to Vantagepoint 2.0.X, the layout of user-defined fields and options was not retained. User-defined fields and options were moved to different locations on the migrated user-defined tab.
Defect 1087851: When Auto Numbering was enabled for a user-defined hub and the Number field was locked through the Screen Designer, a "CustNumber Does Not Exist" error occurred when you tried to save a new record.
Defect 1103489: When you performed a migration from DPS or Vision to Vantagepoint, if your SQL server and the DPS or Vision SQL database that you were migrating from did not have the same collation method, you saw errors in the log file and the migration failed. The migration now works even if the collation methods are different.
Defect 949447: When an employee was selected in the Delegate Approvals To drop-down list on the General tab of My Preferences, the information did not save and display when the My Preferences dialog box was closed and then reopened.
Defect 1111496: When grouping columns with a user-defined lookup field from the Projects hub in a project dashpart, a number was displayed in the dashpart instead of the name of the user-defined field.
Defect 1111047: When you selected one or more credit card User Defined fields to import, the fields were not displayed as a column in the Credit Card panel of the Expense report.
Defect 1093390: When you had an expense report with expense line items, and one line item was rejected while the others were approved, if you then deleted the rejected expense line item so that you could resubmit the expense report, you were not able to resubmit it.
Defect 1103000: In Expense Reports (My Stuff » Expense Reports), when you tried to delete a line item from the expense report after it was submitted, the status was reset to In Progress.
Defect 1111008: When an approver opened the Absence Request Schedule dialog box, not all of the approved absences were highlighted in green. This happened when:
An employee submitted an absence request that included a date range.
The approver rejected the absence request.
The employee modified the dates, resubmitted the absence request, and got an approval.
Defect 1102317: When you selected a project on the Project/Phase/Task lookup, you received an error message stating that you were not budgeted for the project, even though the budget was set up correctly.
Defect 730750: When a timesheet hours field contained a comment, it was shown grayed out so that you could tell a comment existed without having to click the field. However, to see which fields turned gray, you had to put focus on each row.
Defect 1101030: When hours entered in the timesheet were either longer or shorter than the Hours/Day value in the Employees hub, you received an error message. This happened even when the total hours entered in the timesheet were correct.
Defect 1113956: When you used the English-International version of Vantagepoint, the word "labour" was spelled inconsistently for some menu items in the Vantagepoint navigation pane.
Defect 1069068: When favorite reports were included on a Role Summary report, any favorite reports marked as Access to All Roles were excluded from the report.
Defect 1078612: If you selected a user-defined grid in Grid Type and one or more of the columns from that grid on the Columns & Groups tab for the Project List report, an error occurred when previewing the report.
Defect 1015329: Even if the Process Server » Queue Manager was set up to send an email message when an Unposted Labor job failed, no termination message was actually sent when failure occured.
Defect 1105383: When a user with administrator rights successfully ran a customized Project Summary report, and then another user ran the same report, no columns displayed in the report. This defect occurred if:
The role of the second user did not have access to all reports, specified in Settings » Security » Roles.
Both users ran the report using the same computer.
As a workaround, you can log in using the second user's role, without having to log in as the role with administrator rights first, and then run the customized report.
Defect 1095993: In some cases, the calendar period billing amounts on the Labor Resource Planned and Actuals report did not match amounts in the corresponding columns on the Labor tab of the Plan form in the Projects hub.
Defect 1107498: When you added a divider line on more than one tab in a hub, you were unable to see one of the dividers or delete it.
Defect 978217: Even though a user's role did not have rights to Settings » Security » Users, the role should still have been able to create a search in the Activities hub using the Create User or Modify User fields. Instead, a search performed on these fields resulted in an error.
Defect 1092627: In the Projects Associated with Time Analysis Columns grid on the Time Analysis form, you were unable to enter a non-existent project number as a catch-all range for adding new projects.
Defect 1108778: When you attempted to run revenue generation using a user-defined revenue method with the Subject to Max option selected, you encountered an error because the setting for the selected option was not saved correctly.
Defect 1109758: When you created a new revenue method and you used the Lesser of Two Methods operator, you were unable to select user-defined revenue methods in the First Method and Last Method fields on the Lesser of Two Methods dialog box.
Defect 1111737: This defect applied if you use a single company database in Vantagepoint. In Settings Settings » General Ledger » Chart of Accounts, you were not able to change an account name, even if the Do Not Allow Account Name Changes in Chart of Accounts option was set to No in Settings » General Ledger » Options.
Defect 1109754: When values with the same description were added or edited on the Market Settings dialog box in Settings » Labels and Lists » Lists » Market, a "Unique values must be entered" error occurred.
Defect 1104529: In Settings » Rate Tables » Billing Labor Categories, you encountered an error when you tried to delete a row from the Categories grid.
Defect 1105175: In Settings » Rate Tables » Billing Labor Categories, you were not allowed to create a new labor category in the Categories grid. Instead, you were required to select from the existing labor categories in the drop-down list.
Defect 1106976: In Settings » Workflow » Numbering, you encountered an error when you modified the expression configuration and selected the Reset Sequence check box for the Primary Client Number on the Expression Configuration dialog box.
Defect 1107982: On the Expression Builder dialog box, special characters such as ()'[: were inccorectly added by Vantagepoint as placeholders for fields in the Calculation field. The extra characters caused errors when a scheduled workflow ran.
Defect 1107983: When adding conditions to a workflow, you could not save the workflow if the Column field was left blank.
Defect 1110682: When you added a workflow table to a new workflow in a user-defined hub, clicked Conditions, and then selected Column » Number and Operator » empty or not empty in the workflow conditions, the Value field was incorrectly required.
Defect 1092600: When creating an Activity type of Action for a user-initiated workflow, the Activity Owner field on the Activities dialog box did not include the user-defined fields.
Defect 1099453: On the Conditions dialog box, when you changed AND to OR in the And/Or field, an error message required you to fill in the Value field, even when the field had a value in it.
Defect 1109500: When you created or selected a workflow with the Insert/Associate workflow type, added a Column (Field) Change action type, and used the Apply Change to Lower WBS Levels option, the workflow did not work as intended. This option is no longer available in this scenario.
Defect 1102798: In Vision or DPS 2.0.x, you could set up either a user-initiated workflow or a scheduled workflow to create a promotional project from an opportunity and then link the two. In Vantagepoint, opportunities no longer exist. Instead, you create projects for contracts that you are pursuing. When that significant change was implemented in Vantagepoint, the option to use a workflow to create a linked promotional project from a regular project was omitted. That ability has been added in this release.
In the Actions grid on the User Initiated Workflows form or Scheduled Workflows form, select Function on the Add Action grid menu. Then select Create Promotional Project from Regular Project in Method on the Function Configuration dialog box.
Note: If you created workflowsthat used the Create Project from Opportunity function in Vision or DPS 2.0.x and then upgrade to this or a later version of Vantagepoint, those workflows are discarded during the upgrade process. You must create them again in Vantagepoint using the new Create Promotional Project from Regular Project function.
Defect 1110520: When creating a scheduled workflow, fields from the PRSummary table were not available for conditions or expressions.
Defect 1105167: The default tax codes that you entered in Settings » Cash Management » Options, and on the Vendor tab in the Firms hub, were not populating as the default tax code entries for an AP invoice in Transaction Center » AP Invoice Approvals.
Defect 1109450: When you used a database that does not use labor codes, and you attempted to add a labor history for a labor and expense record, you received the following form validation error: “Please resolve the errors indicated below. Labor Code is required.”
Defect 1109741: You could not import a firm record when the firm name (Company Name) existed in the database but the firm number (Company Number) did not.
Defect 1108001: On the Combine Records tab of the Projects form, existing overhead or promotional projects were not displayed on the lookup for the Existing Project field.
