Add a New Generic Resource

TrafficLIVE allows you to add resources to the system so that you can manage them effectively. Resources can include rooms, projectors, or generic task buckets such as "design work" if you want to portion or cost work but do not yet know who is going to do it. You use this procedure to add a new generic resource.

Resource users are only available to users of the TrafficLIVE Enterprise plan. Resource users carry no fees, cannot log in, and are only visible in selected views.

If you are using the Enterprise plan, you can create unlimited generic users without charge. These can be generic buckets such as Designers, or assets such as rooms and projectors. If you create a resource as a generic resource, you cannot change it to a user.

To add a generic resource, complete the following steps:

  1. Click Menu > Admin > Company Management.
  2. In the Locations, Depts & Staff pane, select the department to which you want to add the generic resource.
  3. At the bottom of the pane, click Add User.
    1. In the right-side pane, enter the resource details. You must enter values in the First Name (name of resource), Location, Department, and Email Address fields. You can create a fake email address for a generic resource.
    2. In the Personal Rate Charge Band field, choose a personal rate charge band. You need this if you want to use the generic resource for estimated costing.
  4. Perform the following optional steps if appropriate:
    • On the Charge Bands tab, drag any charge bands that you want to assign to the resource from the left-side box to the right-side box.
    • On the Staff Groups tab, drag any staff groups that you want to assign to the resource from the left box to the right box.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Create Generic Resource.
