Field Description
Editing Settings
  • Fast Dragging — When you select this option, the dates and duration are only updated and displayed after the task has finished moving. You experience uninterrupted dragging when you move tasks.

When you clear this option, the duration and dates of a task are continually updated (and displayed) in real time as the task is being dragged. You experience a slight slowdown when you move tasks.

  • Show non-working times — When this is selected, the Gantt chart displays both working and non-working times.

Non-working times include nights, lunch, weekends, and holidays that have been configured from within the company settings.

  • Use working hours — When this is selected, TrafficLIVE takes non-working time into account for all task-shifting operations, including:
    • Manually dragging an item around the Gantt chart.
    • Using Shift Schedule to move tasks forward or backward in time.
    • Using Auto Schedule to schedule your job.

When this option is enabled, any non-working time is considered invalid and is ignored when shifting or scheduling.

Task Duration While Moving
  • Visible length — Using a visible task duration enables you to resize your tasks at will, and your new length is preserved.
  • Estimated task length — When you use this option, any time a task is moved, its length is automatically set to the work hours as defined in the Financials page view for that task.
Preserve dependencies when dragging When you move a task, other tasks that are dependent on the original moving task are moved automatically to prevent a dependency being breached. Dependencies that are already broken are not resolved. Deltek suggests that you use Auto Schedule with the Constraint method selected.

Preservation of dependencies only works one way. This means that only dependent tasks are updated automatically. Parent task items are not updated if you move a child task item.

Having cyclic dependencies can lead to unpredictable behavior.

Snap to start of task When you add an employee to the task, if this option is selected, he or she is placed at the start of the task, no matter where you dropped him or her.

If this option is not selected, the employee is scheduled where you dropped him or her. This allows you to have different people working on the task at different times.

Move allocations when moving tasks When you move a task with this option selected, the scheduled resource is also moved. This feature can be very useful, but it can also result in double bookings and upset a carefully crafted schedule.

When a job is in the planning stage (Draft state), this option is useful because it lets you move everything around. On a live job, Deltek recommends that you use it with caution.

Gantt Chart Columns
  • Show approved status — When you select this option, TrafficLIVE displays the Status column to the left of the Gantt chart.
  • Show happy rating — When you select this option, TrafficLIVE displays the Happy Rating column to the left of the Gantt chart.
  • Show start and end time — When you select this option, TrafficLIVE displays the Start and End Time columns to the left of the Gantt chart.
