Score an Appraisal as a Manager

Steps for a manager to score an appraisal.

  • These steps begin on the My Appraisals screen. When it’s a manager's turn to score an employee's appraisal, the manager receives an email notification from Talent Manager with a URL link to open Talent. The manager can click that link to begin the process, then follow the steps below.
  • An appraisal must be in the Scoring phase of a workflow before the Score this Appraisal link displays.
  • If you are spending a long time scoring on Step 1, click Save at the bottom of the screen to ensure your data is saved, in case of system time-out or other session disruption. If you wish to return to scoring at a later time, click Finish Later.

To score an appraisal:

  1. Click My Employees > My Employees.
  2. On the My Employees screen, click the appraisal that is awaiting your assessment.
  3. At the top of the screen, click Score this Appraisal.
  4. Click Expand All Notes to see any journal entries and progress notes.
  5. Scroll down to view each competency, skill, and goal that requires scoring. As a manager, for each item you can see scores submitted by other appraisers. As you scroll, enter a rating for each category. Depending on system settings, you may see rating tips you can use to help you select a rating.
  6. If necessary, enter a comment for an item. The settings of the scale selected for scoring determine whether comments are required. If you enter a comment, you must first select who can view the comment from the Comment can be viewed by drop-down list. If the Dela for Performance Appraisal Refinement Core feature is enabled for your Group, an AI Assistant is available to help draft your comment. To use the assistant:
    1. In the Comment field, enter a simple prompt. For example, “Write two sentences that conveys that they deserve a rating of Exceeds Expectations because they have gone above and beyond with their work this quarter.”
    2. Click the Dela Business Assistant button to generate a draft in the dialog.
    3. Revise the results in the Generated Content field as desired until you are satisfied. You can do this manually, or in the Prompt field, revise the prompt and click Generate to receive a new draft. You can also click Restore Prompt to restore the original prompt and click Generate to receive a new draft based on that original prompt.
    4. When satisfied, click Accept Changes to transfer the text to the Comment field.
  7. Click Next to review all of the ratings that you entered.
  8. When you are satisfied with your ratings, click Finish to submit your assessment.
  9. After submitting the score, the Appraisal opens. You can scroll to the Appraisers section and click Edit to change your ratings even after you click Finish, provided that the appraisal is still in the Assessment phase. You can also click the Summary tab for an overview of all the content and ratings. Managers can view all submitted appraiser scores.
