Contents of the Career Path Screen

Review information about the jobs on your current job path, and add jobs, if desired.

Fields and Columns

Field/Column Description
Career Path This is the next job that you are expected to occupy, assuming that you attain the requirements for the job.
Current Position This is your current job.
Time Remaining in Position This is the number of months that you are expected to stay in your current position before you are ready to move on to the next job in your career path.
Sequence This column shows the order in which you will move from job to job.
Position This column lists the jobs that are in your career path.
# Months in Position This is the number of months that you are expected to stay in a job before you are ready to move on to the next job in your career path.
Purpose This is the reason that a job is part of your job path: Training, Promotion, Rotation, Demotion, or Transfer.
Competencies These are the competencies required by a job.
Skills These are the skills required by a job.
Development Required These are the items in your development plan that address any deficiencies in your competencies or skill level that would prevent you from moving to the next job in your career path.

Actions

The buttons and icons on the Career Path screen perform the following actions.

Button/Icon Action Description
View All Click this button to view all of your career paths, including your currently active career path.
Add Jobs to Career Path Click this icon to search for jobs to add to your career path. Your manager must approve any additions that you make before they become a part of your career path.

View Pending Career Path Jobs Click this icon to see all of the jobs that you have added to your career path that have not yet been approved by your manager.
Gap Analysis Click this icon to see a gap analysis comparing your current skills and competencies to the skills and competencies required to do the job.
