Use the fields and options to configure the New Calculated Field dialog box.

| Name | The name that you enter here is displayed on all lists where you can select the calculated field. |
| Applies to Table | This is the data table to which the new calculated field applies. You can select from the following tables:

- Relationship
- Resource
- Resource Assignment
- Resource Availability

| Data Type | This is the type of data that the calculated field will return. It must match the result produced by the calculated field expression.
- Character: Returns a character string to the calculated field
- Date: Returns a date to the calculated field
- Decimal: Returns a decimal number (for example, 7.89) to the calculated field
- Duration: Returns a duration to the calculated field
- Finish Date: Returns an activity finish date to the calculated field
- Integer: Returns a whole number to the calculated field
- Logical: Returns True or False to the calculated field
