Documentation
New "DPS Tips" Video
Deltek continues to add to its library of short videos that describe DPS processes and features. You can launch these videos from the relevant areas of the product and from the "
How-to Videos" page of the online help.

The latest addition to the library is "DPS Tips," intended for all DPS users. In this video, you will learn tips and tricks that will help you successfully navigate DPS, including how to add a record, use list view, select columns, use filters, and perform a simple search. You will also learn about hierarchies.
API Documentation
Version 1.1.1 includes extensive documentation for the DPS RESTful API. The DPS API enables developers to build custom applications that interact with DPS. 

The online API Reference (available at https://help.deltek.com/product/deltekps/DPS_API_and_Web_Services.html) explains how to use the API, providing information about the following:
  • Authorization: How to get an access token for your HTTPS requests that verify that you are an authorized user.
  • REST Overview: The concept of resources, the JSON lightweight data interchange format, using HTTPS requests to get a representation of the current state of a DPS resource, and interpreting HTTPS response error codes. For example, the resource representation for a DPS contact contains all of the data in the hub for that contact.
  • Hubs: How to use the API to create, read, update, and delete data in DPS hubs.
  • Configuration: How to use the API to set up code tables, organizations, and accounting codes, and perform other miscellaneous set up tasks.
  • Accounting Transactions: How to use the API to inject data, process transactions within DPS, and extract accounting and transactional information for use outside of DPS.
  • Examples: Robust code examples that use cURL to simulate HTTPS requests and show the HTTPS response.
  • Metadata: How to use REST endpoints to retrieve metadata. For example, executing an HTTPS GET on the endpoint /metadata/Contact/ provides a summary of every field in the database for a contact record, including the name, type, default value, maximum length, and whether it is a required field.
The online list of REST endpoints (available at https://help.deltek.com/product/deltekps/api/) provides an exhaustive list of the possible HTTPS GET, PUT, POST, and DELETE requests that developers can perform on each REST endpoint. 

Microsoft Outlook Add-In for Deltek for Professional Services
The Outlook add-in for DPS provides easy access to a contact's information in DPS when you are viewing an email from the contact in Outlook.
Features
After you install the Outlook add-in and connect to your DPS database, you can do the following in Outlook when you open or view an email that has recipients who are entered as contacts in DPS:
  • View a summary of relevant information for the DPS contacts, such as phone numbers, recent activities, active opportunities, project history, and active marketing campaigns that are entered in DPS.
  • Access the complete record for the contact in DPS.
  • Add new DPS activities and opportunities for contacts with details directly from emails.
  • Add a new contact record in DPS for email recipients who are not recognized as existing contacts in DPS.
  • Search for any contact, firm, project, or opportunity record in DPS to easily locate key information.
  • Create new DPS contacts, firms, projects, opportunities, and activities from Outlook.
Prerequisites
To use the Outlook add-in, you must have the DPS CRM module activated.
Microsoft Outlook and Exchange Supported Versions
The Outlook add-in can be used with:
  • Microsoft Exchange 2016 with CU 5 or later installed
  • Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Windows Desktop
  • Microsoft Outlook 2013 for Windows Desktop
  • Microsoft Outlook Web App (OWA)
  • Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac and 2013 for Mac
  • Microsoft Office 365
Download and Install the Outlook Add-in
You download and install the Deltek for PS add-in from the Microsoft Office Store.
If you use Microsoft Exchange, your Exchange administrator can restrict your ability to download add-ins from the Microsoft Office Store. If you are unable to download apps from the Office Store, your Exchange administrator can also push add-ins to you.

Connect to Your DPS Database and Log in for the First Time
For specific instructions, see the “Connect Microsoft Outlook to Your DPS Database for the First Time” topic in the DPS online help.
Access DPS Functionality in Outlook
After you connect Outlook to your DPS database in the Welcome pane, you access DPS functionality in Outlook by opening an email that has a recipient who is entered as a contact in the Contacts hub in DPS. Then complete one of the following:
  • If you use Outlook Web App: Click the Deltek for PS icon in the email. Then select one of the following options: Open Deltek, Create New, and Settings and Help.
  • If you use Outlook for Windows or Outlook for Mac: In the Deltek group on the Home tab of the Outlook ribbon: Click the Open Deltek, Create New, or Settings and Help option.
    The DPS panes that you see when you click these options in Outlook have a “Deltek for PS” heading.

For more information about the contents of the Deltek for PS panes in Outlook and the specific instructions on how to use the DPS functionality in Outlook, see the Microsoft Outlook Add-in online help.
You access the Microsoft Outlook Add-in help in the following ways: 
  • In the DPS software, click ? in the upper right corner of a screen. In the help Contents pane, navigate to the Microsoft Outlook Add-In section.
  • In Outlook, click Need Help? or Help in a Deltek for PS pane.
Regulatory
2017 Idaho Tax Update
The withholding tables for Single and Married have been updated. For more information, see https://tax.idaho.gov/pubs/EPB00006_07-03-2017.pdf.
2017 Illinois Tax Update
The flat income tax rate increases from 3.75% to 4.95%, effective July 1, 2017. For more information, see http://tax.illinois.gov/TaxForms/Withholding/IL-700-T-2017.pdf.
2017 Maine Tax Update
The income tax bracket for those earning more than $200,000, which had a tax rate of 10.15%, was eliminated retroactive to January 1, 2017, the date the bracket took effect. The tax rate for those individuals fell to 7.15%.
Planning
Module Activation Check Added for the Project API
Access to the API for importing project information is now based on the modules that your firm activated. That check has been added to the following endpoints:
  • api/project
  • api/project/{wbskey}
  • api/projectPlan/{id}
  • api/projectPlan
If you activated the Accounting module, you use the Project API. That API supports a three-level work breakdown structure and the full set of project fields. It does not support any planning levels other than the three WBS levels.
If you activated the Resource Planning module but not the Accounting module, you use the Project Plan API. That API supports up to 17 levels for planning but only a limited set of project fields.
If you did not activate either Accounting or Resource Planning, neither of these APIs is available.
