Use the Workflow Options tab of Self-Service Configuration to set up notifications for the Life Events and Benefits Enrollment processes.

Life Events |
Use this drop-down list to select a life event (for example, Adoption of Family Member or New Hire).
The list displays all life events that have been set up. If no life events have been set up, the Escalation Table is disabled and you see the following error message: "No Life Events exist. To save Workflow options for Life Events, you must run the Synchronization Utility."

Escalation Table
Use this table to determine when and how employees are notified that they need to perform the Life Events process.

Initial, Medium Priority, High Priority |
Initial represents the start of the Life Event process. As the end of the Life Events process grows nearer, Initial is upgraded to Medium Priority and then to High Priority.

- Select the number of days remaining in the Life Event process when the life event will be upgraded from Initial to Medium Priority.
- Select the number of days remaining in the Life Event process when the life event will be upgraded from Medium Priority to High Priority.

Notify Employee |
Select the notification method that you would like to use at the Initial, Medium Priority, and High Priority points.
Notifications are sent using the Self Service Status Inquiry utility. You can automate notifications using the Scheduled Processes feature.
- None
— No notification is sent.
- E-Mail — An e-mail notification is sent.
- Alert — An alert displays on the desktop.
- Employee Preference — The employee receives an e-mail or an alert, depending on the employee's preference.

If you select this check box, employees will be notified via e-mail after confirming the life event.

E-mail Functional Role #1 and Role #2 on Confirmation |
If you select this check box, all employees attached to functional role #1 and functional role #2 will be notified via e-mail when an employee has confirmed a life event.

E-mail Functional Role #1 if Life Event Requires Approval |
If you select this check box, all employees attached to functional role #1 will be notified via e-mail when an employee has initiated the life event, if the life event has been set up to require approval.

E-mail Functional Role #1 if Elections Require Approval |
If you select this check box, all employees attached to functional role #1 will be notified via e-mail when an employee has initiated the life event, if the employee has selected a benefit that requires approval.

Role #1 |
Select the functional role #1 for this life event. The drop-down list displays all roles that have been set up. Each member of a role has responsibility for a group of employees.
If you leave Role #1 blank, no Role #1 notifications are sent.

Role #2 |
Select the functional role #2 for this life event. The drop-down list displays all roles that have been set up. Each member of a role has responsibility for a group of employees.
If you leave Role #2 blank, no Role #2 notifications are sent.

Benefits Enrollment
Use this table to determine when and how employees are reminded that they need to perform the Benefits Enrollment process.
