Custom Text Screen

Use the Custom Text screen to customize the system's text. It takes data from both the database and ASCII files found on the server (based on a user's filter) and presents the data to you, so you can provide custom overrides to system default text.

Location

Display the screen to view Custom Text.

To display the screen, complete the following step:

In the Administration module, click Product Configuration > Custom Text.

Use this screen to identify the language, module, screen application, page, text type and other custom text details.

Identification

Field Description
Locale

Use this drop-down list to select the applicable country and the language of that country.  It displays the languages that have been configured for your company.

Module

From the Module drop-down list, select the module, either Time, Expense, or ESS, that contains the screen or application where you want to add or edit custom text. Options include the following:

  • Expense
  • Time
  • Self-Service
  • System
  • Mobile
Screen/Application

From the Screen/Application drop-down list, select the screen or application (Workflow, for example) where you want to add or edit custom text.

Page

From the Page drop-down list, select the page where you want to add or edit custom text.  

Edit Text

Select the Edit Text link to launch the Edit Text dialog, where you can override the custom text.

Reset Text

Select the Reset Text link to reset the system to the default text.

Field Description
Check box

To select a row for Edit or Reset, select the check box to the left of the row.

Note: If the check box in the header of the table is selected, all records in the table will be selected.  If you change the check box in the header from checked to unchecked, all check boxes will be unchecked.
Text Type

This field displays the type of message bundle (i.e., "Top Text," "Bottom Text," "Error," etc.).

Label Code

This field displays the identifying number assigned to the message bundle (i.e., "T000423," "E000023," etc.).  

Usage Hint

This field provides a hint describing the message bundle (i.e., "Top Instructions Text," "Street Address Error," etc.).  

Default Text

This field displays the default text (ASCII files), before you have entered any overrides (e.g., "Insert Top Text Here," "Street Address is required," etc.).

Override Text

If you have edited custom text in the Edit Text screen, the edited text will display here.  

Edit Text

Select the Edit Text link to launch the Edit Text dialog box, where you can edit your custom text.

Enter new text here.

Suppress Default Text

If you select the Suppress Default Text check box, the default text will be suppressed, and <Suppressed> will be displayed in the Override Text field on the main screen.  

If you do not select this check box, the Override Text field will be blank.

Select this button to launch the Formatting Options dialog box.

Create File(s)

Your custom text will be saved as a message bundle.

Create Files(s)

When you have finished customizing the text messages, click Create File to generate the message bundle files. In the Create File(s) dialog box, review the selected languages. If you do not want to generate a message bundle for any of the selected languages, clear the check box next to that language.
