Files

Use Files on the Context Menu to upload files to Costpoint. You can access this menu item from any application.

Each file is tagged with an application ID, which determines the application required to access it. To ensure proper access, always upload files from the application where they will be used.

Note: If you are running an import application (preprocessor), you can use Files to select the import file that contains the data you want to import.

Ways to Work with Input Files

You can manage input files in multiple ways:

• Use alternate file locations: Access files from a designated network path. Alternate file locations are defined in the Manage Alternate File Locations application. This method is useful when you want to maintain access to the file from a shared network folder.
• Upload to the database: Upload files directly to Costpoint using the Files screen, eliminating the need for network folder access.
