Costpoint Help

Note: ODBC\JDBC access is not part of your package. You can purchase ODBC\JDBC accounts through your Customer Success Manager

Your GCCM cloud solution includes five ODBC/JDBC user accounts that provide read-only access to both Non-Production and Production databases via the Hybrid Data Pipeline (HDP) tool.

This access is ideal for:

  • Reporting and analytics
  • Data validation
  • External tool integrations (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL clients)
Note: These accounts are strictly read-only and must be managed through a formal service request process.

Security & Compliance

ODBC/JDBC access involves direct connections to your cloud-hosted databases. While Deltek provides secure credentials, data handling beyond the cloud boundary is your responsibility.

Task NIST 800-171 Control
Managing database access Control 3.1.5 – Limit system access to authorized users
Protecting credentials in transit Control 3.13.2 – Protect data in transit and at rest
Managing external data flows Control 3.1.22 – Control information posted or processed on publicly accessible systems
Customer Responsibility: Your organization is responsible for how data is used, stored, or shared once it leaves the Deltek Cloud.

Step-by-Step Setup Instructions

Step 1: Submit the Service Request

  1. SaaS Administrator logs into the Deltek Support Center.
  2. Navigate to Deltek Cloud Solutions and select your product.
  3. Choose ODBC Read Only Access.
  4. Download and complete the Costpoint GCCM ODBC User Access Form:
    • Identify users to be granted or removed.
    • Optionally allowlist up to 5 IPs or subnets.
  5. Encrypt the form using PGP and upload via Deltek SFTP.
  6. Submit the request and note the Case Number.
  7. Deltek will notify users via phone and email with credentials and configuration details.

Step 2: Install the HDP Client Driver

Choose the appropriate client based on your operating system and connection type:

Windows ODBC Driver
- Download GCC ODBC Driver

Windows JDBC Driver
- Download GCC JDBC Driver

Linux ODBC Driver
- Download GCC Linux ODBC Driver

Linux JDBC Driver
- Download GCC Linux JDBC Driver

Warning: Install the correct architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) based on your application.

Step 3: Configure the ODBC Client

  1. Open ODBC Data Sources Administrator (32-bit or 64-bit).
  2. Add a new User DSN or System DSN.
  3. Select DataDirect HDP X.X driver.
  4. On the General tab, enter:

    • Data Source Name and Description (any alphanumeric name)
    • Hybrid Data Pipeline Source (provided in your ticket)

      Format:

      • <DatabaseName>-npr (Non-Prod)
      • <DatabaseName>-prd (Prod)
    • Service:

      • GCC Moderate Non-Prod: cp-hdp01.npr.mydeltekgcc.com
      • GCC Moderate Prod: cp-hdp01.prd.mydeltekgcc.com
    • Port: 443
  5. On the Advanced tab, enter:

    • WorkArounds=2
  6. On the Security tab:
    • Enable SSL Authentication
    • Clear Validate Server Certificate
  7. Click Test Connect, enter credentials, and confirm the connection.
Note: You must configure a separate data source for each database (e.g., CPTRAN, TE, CONFIG).

Best Practices

  • Limit ODBC/JDBC access to users who need it.
  • Track which users have access to Production vs. Non-Production.
  • Remove access promptly when no longer needed.
  • Use secure tools and encrypted connections when accessing data.
  • Avoid extra spaces when copying credentials.
