Login Screen

The Costpoint web login page is accessed via the URL http://<server name>/costpoint.htm, where the server name is the name of your Costpoint web server.

Note: The "costpoint.htm" portion of the URL may be optional if your system administrator has set this up as the default HTML page.  If this is the case, you will not need to enter this information.

User

Enter the User ID assigned to you in Costpoint web, which is case sensitive.

Costpoint web uses a different user security scheme than in Costpoint client/server, so your web user ID may not be the same as your user ID in client/server.

Password

Enter the password, which is case sensitive.

System

The system name is part of the setup of the Costpoint web server, so you must obtain this information from your system administrator.

Each system name pairs a transaction database with a "meta" database. The transaction database contains your Costpoint data. The "meta" database contains user security information in addition to other system information for the Costpoint web applications.

Application

This field is optional.

Whether you keep the default "COSTPOINT MENU" or leave it blank, you can select the application from the application menu after login.

Alternatively, you can access a specific application directly by entering the application ID.  The menu will still be available for use, but the system will open the specific application immediately upon login.

Note: If you want to access a specific application, you should always enter the application ID, not the application name.  The application ID is the same in both Costpoint web and client/server (although the application name may differ slightly).  For example, you should enter "BLMOPEN" to directly access the Open Billing Detail screen (Projects\Maintain\Billing).

Company

This field is optional.

If you leave this field blank and you are assigned to more than one company, the system will select the default company for the user.  [You must assign a default company to each user in the Users screen (Administration\Maintain\Users)].

Alternatively, you can enter the company ID directly in this field.

Validation Frequency

Costpoint web offers a choice of three validation frequency settings at the time of user login.  This setting determines the degree of interactivity with the server (i.e., how often a round-trip to the server is initiated for data validation).

The available validation frequency mode settings include:

With field validation, the system will make a round-trip to the application server to validate data on a field basis (i.e., when moving from field to field).

With record/line validation, the system will make a round-trip to the application server to validate data on a record/line basis (i.e., when moving from line to line).

With application validation, the system will make a round-trip to the application server to validate data only when you Save the application.

You should choose the setting based on the bandwidth of your personal computer's connection to the server.  If the bandwidth is small, you should choose less frequency to avoid frequent delays during data entry.

Click to log in (or use the Enter key).

Reset

Click to clear all fields.

Remember Login Settings

Select this checkbox if you want the system to "remember" the entry data the next time you log in.  The system will populate all the fields in this screen with your last login data as a default, with the exception of the Password field.

Version

The system automatically displays the Costpoint web version number to the right of the Remember Login Settings checkbox.
