Costpoint Analytics offers two options for grouping and displaying data: by owning organization or by performing organization.
When you use the Revenue Analytics or Profit Analytics, the organization view that you select is important because revenue can be posted to the owning organization of a project or to the performing organizations that charge the project.
The owning organization is the organization in which the project resides. When you view project data based on owning organization in the Project Analytics, you can view and analyze all data for projects that are owned by the organizations to which you have access. Your security rights determine if you can access the lower-level organizations below the owning organization in the hierarchy.
If the owning organization for a project changes, Costpoint Analytics always bases access to that project’s data on the most recent owning organization.
Performing organizations are other organizations that charge to the project. For example, if an employee who belongs to another organization charges time to the project, his organization is the performing organization associated with that charge.
When you view project data based on performing organization in the Revenue Analytics or Profit Analytics, you can only view and analyze project data originating from transactions that were charged to the organizations to which you have access. Your security rights determine if you can access the lower-level organizations below the owning organization in the hierarchy.
To select the organization view, complete the following steps:
Click the User Options tab.
Under Org View, click Owning or Performing. The indicator next to your selection changes to green, and the analytic changes its charts and tables accordingly.
Because a change in this option represents a fundamental change in how the data is organized, Costpoint Analytics discards any currently selected filter options when you change the selected option from Owning to Performing or the reverse. You must apply the filters you want when you return to the analytics tabs.
