Define a Project Variable
When defining a metric, if a project value to be used in a metric definition is unknown, you can create a project variable. These variables exist at the workbook level but the individual values can be set at the project level.
After you set up the variables, you can set the values on the S1 // Projects tab on the Activity Details Pane Project Variables tab for the selected project. You can also use the Variable Definition dialog box on the S2 // Diagnostics tab to set variables for multiple projects.
To define a project variable, complete the following steps:
- On the Metrics tab, select the Project Variables view.
- In the Project Variables menu group, click New Project Variable. Project Variable # is added to the Variables pane.
- In the Name field, enter a name for the variable.
- (Optional) In the Description field, enter a description for the variable.
- In the Type field, select the variable type: Number, Text, DateTime, Duration, Boolean. After you have defined your variables, you can use the Activity Details Pane Project Variables tab on the S1 // Projects tab to add variable values to projects. If you want to enter variables for multiple projects, you can use the Variable Definition dialog box on the S2 // Diagnostics tab.
