P6 Web Services Import Wizard
Use this wizard to import projects from Primavera P6 Web Services.
Acumen uses profiles to connect to P6 Web Services servers. Profiles are used both for the P6 Web Services Import Wizard and when importing a project from P6 Web Services. The system can store multiple profiles that include the address, user name, password, and so on.
The first time you import projects from P6 Web Services, you set up a profile. Your P6 Administrator should supply the URL, Authentication Type, Database #, User Name and Password that you will need to connect to the P6 server.
Loading the project list from the server can take a long time, so the wizard only retrieves the project list when needed. If the server is very slow, and you know at least part of the ID or Name of the project you wish to import, you can use the project filter.
After the list of projects has been loaded from the server, the Import Wizard takes you directly to the Project Selection page. You can click the Back button to access the Profile Selection and Project Filter page where you can select a different profile or change the project filter.
Import Wizard: Edit Profile Page
Use this page to set up or edit your profile.
Field | Description |
---|---|
URL | Enter or edit the web service URL for the Primavera P6 connection. For example, http://<MyP6WebServer>:8206/p6ws. If you require a secure connection to the P6 server, an https connection is required. |
Authentication Type | This determines the means by which a user's identity is authenticated against the user account. You can select Auto-Detect, Cookie, or User Token, depending on how your P6 Web Server has been configured. |
DB# | This is the database number which you should be able to get from your P6 Administrator. |
Refresh |
Use this to refresh the list of databases in the Database field. If you are creating a new profile and you click this button, Acumen asks for your P6 username and password. After you enter your login details and click OK, Acumen verifies that it can connect with the server and refreshes the list of databases. For an existing profile, as long as Acumen is able to connect to the server, clicking this button refreshes the list of databases without you having to enter your login details. If you get any errors when you refresh, see P6 Web Services Import Wizard Troubleshooting. |
Database | If you are creating a new profile, this list is blank until you click Refresh when it populates with all of the databases to which you have access. Select the database from which you want to select projects to import. |
Import Wizard: Profile Selection and Project Filter Page
Use this page to select, add, edit, or delete a profile, and to filter the projects in the database. If you have a large database, Deltek strongly suggests filtering the projects to improve performance.
Import Wizard: Processing Page
When you click Next on the Profile Selection and Project Filter page, Acumen retrieves the projects from the database based on the filter criteria entered. If no filter criteria have been entered, Acumen retrieves all projects from the selected database.
Import Wizard: Project Selection Page
Use this page to select the projects that you want to import into Acumen. You can browse through the projects on the Project Selection dialog box using a Flat view or the Enterprise Project Structure (EPS) view.
The first time you access this page with a new profile, Acumen pulls the data from the database. Subsequently, Acumen uses cached data therefore it may be helpful to refresh the grid if you have added new projects to the selected database since the last time you ran the wizard.
You can click the Full screen button in the top right corner of the page to view the grid full screen and more easily see the data.
If you don't see all of the projects that you expect to see, look at the top of the page to see if a filter has been applied. You may need to change or remove the filter to see your projects.
To select a different profile, or change or remove the filter criteria, click the Back button to access the Profile Selection and Project Filter page.
