You must assign numbers to printed checks. The numbers must match the preprinted, micro-encoded number on each check. This number is stored with the posted check for tracking and auditing purposes.
You can assign check numbers in two ways:

Assign numbers to a remaining group of sequential checks. Use this method if you are printing a batch of checks.

Assign numbers to a single check. Use this method if an error occurred printing one check in a sequence, and you must reprint the check, or when you are printing a single check.
