Constraint Date |
Target Start Date / Target Finish Date |
The interpretation depends on the value of Constraint Type. |
Constraint Type |
Activity Type |
If the MSP constraint type is ASAP or ALAP, then the OPP Activity Type field is set to one of those values. |
Target Start Type / Target Finish Type |
A value in MSP other than ASAP or ALAP indicates either a target start or target finish type in OPP. |
|
Critical |
Critical |
OPP supports several types of criticality. MSP is limited to Critical or Non-critical. |
Duration |
Original Duration |
|
Early Finish |
Early Finish |
The Early Finish field in MSP is calculated by time analysis. |
Early Start |
Early Start |
The Early Start field in MSP is calculated by time analysis. |
Earned Value Method |
EVT |
MSP only supports Percent Complete and Physical Percent Complete. |
Effort Driven |
|
This is a true/false property in MSP. Although Effort Driven is one of the OPP activity types, the system does not set activities to this type on import since this is a default for MSP but not for OPP. On export, the system sets the property to FALSE unless there is an activity type with the "effort driven" property. |
Fields calculated by Time Analysis and Resource Scheduling (ESDATE, LSDATE, TOTALFLOAT, and so on). |
Early Start, Early Finish, Total Slack, and so on. |
During export, none of the Time Analysis or Resource Scheduling fields are transferred to MSP. |
Milestone |
Activity Type |
The Milestone field in MSP corresponds to an activity type of Finish Milestone in OPP. |

Outline Number / Outline Level |
Activity ID |
On import, the MSP Outline Number is used for the OPP ID. |
Percent Complete, Percent Work Complete, and Remaining Duration |
Progress Type /Progress Value |
Various fields in MSP are set to model the PM Compass Progress Type and Progress Value fields. If an activity is complete in OPP, the Percent Work Complete in MSP is set to 100. |
Percent Work Complete |
Physical % Complete |
|
Priority |
Priority |
In OPP, this is limited to a value between -999 and 999. |
Remaining Duration |
Computed Remaining Duration |
|
Start/Finish |
Scheduled Start/Scheduled Finish |
This field is imported from MSP if there are resources on the project. It cannot be set in MSP. |
Task Calendar |
Calendar (5day, 24 hours, 7 days, etc) |
|
Parent and Child Calendars |
In OPP, parent <default> calendars are exported as the task calendar. |
|
Task Notes |
< Default > |
The default note category for an activity is imported/exported automatically. |
Task Type |
|
This field is always set to pjFixedDuration on export. |
Task Unique ID |
MSP Unique ID |
On import, the value is stored in OPP. It is not exported back to MSP. MSP determines this value on its own. |

Comments |
Base Calendar |
Availability Calendar |
OPP does not have a calendar field on the resource table so the MSP resource calendar is assigned to any availabilities for a given resource when importing into OPP. When exporting resources to MSP, the calendar field is set to the MSP project calendar ONLY if the resource is a work resource and has no availabilities. If the resource is a work resource and has availabilities then the calendar is set to the calendar used on the first availability record. This means that in many cases, the MSP resource will have a default calendar. |
Material Label |
Resource Unit |
On export, the MSP field is set for material resources. On import, the field is ignored. |
Number1…Number10 |
User Numeric Field 1…10 |
|
Overtime Rate |
Resource Unit Cost |
On export, the MSP field is set for non-cost resources. On import, the field is ignored. |
Resource Group |
Resource ID |
If you have selected Insert Group Before Resource Name in the import preferences, the group name in MSP (if specified) becomes a parent in OPP for any resources that belong to that group. On export, the LOCAL parent (if present) for a resource is unconditionally assigned to the Resource Group field in MSP. |
Resource Name |
Resource ID and Description |
The normal hierarchical separator (the period) is removed from the resource name and replaced with underscores when importing since MSP does not support hierarchical resources, and thus periods have no meaning in MSP (but do in OPP). However, the system preserves the original name in the OPP Description field. |
Resource Type |
Resource Class/Category |
|
Standard Rate |
Resource Unit Cost / Resource Unit |
MSP Standard Rate is a string field that contains both the unit cost and units (for example, $60.00/hr) for work (labor) resources or just the units for material resources. |

ActualWork |
Work * PercentWorkComplete / 100 |
|
Cost |
For labor/material, this is calculated by MSP. For cost resources, the system calculates the work then multiplies by the resource cost (UNIT_COST). |
|
PercentWorkComplete |
Physical % Complete |
|
RemainingWork |
Work * (100 - PercentWorkComplete) / 100 |
|
Work |
Resource Level |
For material and labor, all assignments are exported as a total flat amount. If there are multiple assignments of one resource to an activity, the system combines all assignments into a singular total assignment since MSP only allows a resource to be assigned to a task once. |
WorkContour |
Always pjFlat. |
