When you approve or update a change request using the Open Plan Add-In, PM Compass uses calculated fields and filters to figure out what changed, and then it creates a temporary change baseline using settings from the project baseline. In order for this process to work, the user who is using the Add-In must have full rights to the project baseline in Open Plan as well as the Global Edits, Filters, and Calculated Fields in EPM Security Administrator.
The owner of a project has all of the necessary rights in Open Plan; however, if they are not a member of the SYSADMIN group, the group to which they belong must have full rights to Global Edits, Filters, and Calculated Fields in EPM Security Administrator.
If you want a user other than the project owner to be able to approve changes, the owner must give them rights to the Open Plan baseline and, if they are not a member of the SYSADMIN group, the group to which they belong must have the appropriate rights in EPM Security Administrator.
To confirm that the group to which the user belongs has full rights to Global Edits, Filters, and Calculated Fields, complete the following steps:
Log into EPM Security Administrator.
Navigate to Security ยป Groups.
Select the Open Plan Professional tab.
Use the Search function to find the group to which the user belongs.
Expand the Tools section and make sure that the group has full rights to Calculated Fields, Filters, and Global Edits.
Save if you made any changes.
In Open Plan, the schedule owner needs to grant Copy, Update in Project, Update in Master, and View access rights for the project baseline.
To assign access to the project baseline, complete the following steps:
Log into Open Plan as the owner of the project to which you want to assign access.
Select the Processes tab, and click Baselines.
On the Baseline dialog box, select the baseline for the project that is used by PM Compass.
Click Access Control.
On the Baseline Access Control dialog box grid:
Select a blank Group cell and use the drop-down field above the grid to select the group to which the user belongs.
Select the User ID cell and use the drop-down field to select the user.
Change Copy, Update in Project, Update in Master, and View to Yes.
Click OK to close the dialog box.
To assign full access to the Open Plan project, complete the following steps:
Log in to Open Plan as the owner of the project to which you want to assign access.
Select the project to which you want to assign full access.
On the Processes tab, in the Dialogs group, click Properties to display the Project Properties dialog box.
On the Access Control tab, find the group to which you are granting full access.
If the Read Only column contains a No, the group already has full access and no further steps are required.
If
the Read Only column contains
a Yes, click the down
arrow for the
field
and select No.
Click OK to close the dialog box.
In order to complete a change request, you must be able to open the change request in Exclusive mode. If the project is briefcased by someone else, you will not be able to open it in Exclusive mode and will therefore be unable to complete the change request.
