Reschedule Dialog Box

To change plan dates or assignment dates for plan rows that have planned hours, use the Reschedule dialog box to enter the new dates and to indicate how you want the schedule change to affect the distribution of planned hours.

After you complete the rescheduling process, you can, if necessary, make changes to individual hours distributions in the Resource View grid or Project View grid to get them exactly the way you want them.

If a work breakdown structure (WBS) row or assignment row has no past or future planned hours that may need to be redistributed, you can change the plan or assignment dates in the Resource View grid or Project View grid without using the Reschedule dialog box. (Note, however, that you can only change plan dates in Project View. You cannot change them in Resource View.)

Location

To display the Reschedule dialog box, complete the following steps:

  1. In the Resource Planning workspace, click to go to the Resource View, or click to go to the Project View.
  2. In the grid, display the plan row for which you want to change plan dates or assignment dates.

    To change plan dates, you must be in Project View.

  3. Do one of the following:
    • On the plan row, change one of the dates you want to change, and tab or click out of the field.
    • Hover over or click the plan row, click at the end of the row, and click Reschedule.

Field Description
Resource and WBS path

If you display this dialog box from a resource row, the name of the resource and the path through the project work breakdown structure to the level of the resource displays in the upper-left corner of the dialog box.

If you display this dialog box from a WBS row, the path through the project work breakdown structure to the level of that WBS element displays in the upper-left corner of the dialog box.

Shift - Keep Existing Duration and Hours Distribution

To keep the same number of working days between the start and end date and keep the same distribution of planned hours, select this option.

If some working days have no planned hours in the current schedule, the corresponding working days in the new schedule will have no hours.

Change Duration To lengthen or shorten the plan or assignment date range, select this option.
Redistribute Hours Evenly If you select Change Duration, select this option to redistribute the planned hours evenly over the new date range.
Don't Distribute Hours

If you select Change Duration, select this option to keep the current distribution of planned hours.

Deltek CRM verifies that all of the planned hours falls within the new date range. If some do not, you must either select different dates or select a different distribution option.

FROM THIS ASSIGNMENT/PLAN DATE RANGE

These fields display the current assignment or plan start and end dates. (If you display the dialog box from a WBS row in Resource View or a resource row in Project View, these fields display the assignment date range. If you display the dialog box from a WBS row in Project View, they display the plan date range.)

If this dialog box displayed because you changed a start or end date in the Resource View grid or Project View grid or if you selected the Change Duration option, you cannot change these dates.

If you clicked in Resource View or Project View to display this dialog box and you selected the Shift option, you have these options:
  • Leave these dates unchanged: The entire date range will be rescheduled.
  • Change one or both of these dates: Only that part of the original date range will be rescheduled. The dates you select cannot be outside of the original date range.
TO THIS ASSIGNMENT/PLAN DATE RANGE

Enter the new assignment or plan date range for the assignment or WBS row. Click in the fields to select dates from a calendar.

If this dialog box displayed because you changed a start or end date in the Resource View grid or Project View grid, your entry from the grid displays as the default in the corresponding date range field.

If you selected the Shift option, you select either a new start date or a new end date, and Deltek CRM determines the other date needed to keep the same number of working days in the range. (If you entered a new start or end date in the view grid before you displayed this dialog box, that date displays by default, and Deltek CRM calculates the other date. If you did not enter one of the dates in the view grid before you displayed this dialog box, you enter the new start date, and Deltek CRM calculates the end date.)

If you selected the Change Duration option, you select both the start date and end date for the range.

If you are rescheduling plan dates for a WBS row, you cannot select dates that are outside the assignment date range for that row.

Reschedule

To complete the rescheduling and close the dialog box, click Reschedule. When the process finishes, a completion message displays at the top of the page.

If you are rescheduling plan dates, Deltek CRM verifies that all assignment date ranges under those plan dates are within the new plan date range.

If you are rescheduling assignment dates, Deltek CRM verifies that new assignment date ranges are completely within the applicable plan date ranges. If not, a message displays asking if you want to update the plan dates to include the new assignment date ranges.

Deltek CRM then does the following:
  • Changes the affected plan or assignment dates.
  • Redistributes planned hours. Note that if hours are moved to a date range in which the resource already has planned hours, the rescheduled hours are distributed proportionally across that date range based on the distribution of the preexisting planned hours.
  • Updates values displayed in the Resource View grid or Project View grid to reflect the new schedule.
Cancel To close the dialog box without rescheduling, click Cancel.
