Update the WBS OBS View Analytics for a New OBS Code

If you add one or more new OBS codes after you implement the WBS OBS View analytics, you must complete the steps described here to update the analytics to include data for the new OBS codes.

The procedure below assumes that you are making relatively minor changes to your OBS. If the changes are extensive, you may want to use the procedure for an initial implementation instead.

To update the WBS OBS View analytics after you add new OBS codes in wInsight, complete the following steps:
  1. If you have not already done so, map WBS elements to the new OBS elements, as appropriate, in wInsight Analytics Administrator or wInsight Analytics Desktop.
  2. Either wait until after the next scheduled data load process, or click Run Data Load Batch File in wInsight Analytics Configuration to load the current wInsight data, including the updated WBS-to-OBS mapping information.
  3. On the server or standalone computer on which you installed the wInsight Analytics module, use Windows Explorer to go to the <installation location>\Setup folder, open the wInsight_Analytics_Setup.xlsx file in Microsoft Excel®, and go to the OBS_Org_Mapping sheet.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • If you use the same OBS structure for all projects, enter each of the newly mapped OBS codes in the OBS Code column and the name for each code in both the OBS Name column and the Mapped Organization column. Make sure that the Contract Name column is empty.
    • If the OBS structure is not the same for all projects, enter each of the newly mapped OBS codes in the OBS Code column, the name for each code in the OBS Name column, the project name in Contract Name, and the organization to which you want to map the OBS code in Mapped Organization. Enter a row in the spreadsheet for each combination of OBS code and project.
  5. Save the wInsight_Analytics_Setup.xlsx file.
  6. If the OBS changes require changes to the organization hierarchy you are using in wInsight Analytics, go to the Org_Hierarchy sheet, update the hierarchy, and save the wInsight_Analytics_Setup.xlsx file.

The next time that the data load process runs, the data model and the Multi-Project Analytics user interface are updated to reflect the new WBS-to-OBS mapping information. You can wait for your next scheduled data load process, or you can click Run Data Load Batch File on the wInsight Analytics Configuration tab of the Configuration application to run it yourself. To verify the updates without having to run the data load process, open wInsight_Analytics_MultiProject.qvw in QlikView Desktop and click File > Reload. wInsight_Analytics_MultiProject.qvw is located in the <installation location>\Final folder.
