Example - Create Multiple Projects Based on a Plan
You can create multiple projects based on plans that are similar in scope.
In this example, you are creating a plan to build a house. The plan includes several phases and tasks. After creating the plan, you will create a project that is mapped to the plan. This will automatically create a project in the Project Info Center that reflects the current plan's work breakdown structure (WBS).
After creating the plan and project, there is another house that needs to be built. Because it's overall structure is the same in scope as the original plan, you can create a new plan from an existing project. After changing the project number, the second project is mapped to its own plan.
As you can see, this allows you to create multiple projects based on plans that are similar in scope.

To create multiple projects based on a single plan, complete the following steps:
- Create a new plan.
- Insert the tasks on the Labor grid. Map the plan to a to-be-created project, making sure to enter all WBS1, WBS2, and WBS3 values.
- Use the Create a Project from Plan menu item in the Project Info Center to create a new project from the current plan. This updates the appropriate mapping within the Project table.
- When you receive a contract to build another house, go to Configuration > Planning and, from the General tab, select the Copy Plan: Copy Down To option. Select either the Task or Labor Code option.
- Create a new plan from an existing project. Use the project created in Step 3 above as the existing project.
- Make the project number unique to create the new project record.
