Purchasing and Inventory Configuration Overview

When you configure Purchasing and Inventory, you establish purchasing and inventory items, item categories, inventory locations, units of measure, shipping addresses, bill-to codes, and the buyers and approvers, all at a system level for your firm.

If you have multiple companies, you also specify the purchasing and inventory settings for your company and each company that you have in Vision.

Purchasing & Inventory displays in the Vision Configuration menu after you activate the Purchasing module or Asset Management module in Configuration > Module Activation.

When you have the Asset Management module activated, but not the Purchasing module, you can access only the following menu items from the Purchasing & Inventory menu:

On these tabs, you establish the item categories and purchasing items that will be used to create equipment items in the Equipment Info Center, which is the foundation for the Asset Management application.
