Use the Create New Project from Plan feature to create a new project from an existing project plan. This feature is only available if Vision Planning is installed and enabled. The new project inherits the mapped Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), and associated employees, consultants, and expenses from the project plan.
Prerequisites: Before you can create a project from a plan, the plan must contain the appropriate mapping information. This is the information that tells Vision what data to carry over from the plan into the project and its related phases and tasks.
To create a new project from a plan, complete the following steps:
-
From the Vision Navigation menu, click
.
-
Click
New and select
Create Project from a Plan.
-
In the
Plan field, click
Search to open the Plan lookup and select the Vision plan that you want to use to create the new project record.
You cannot select a plan from iAccess for Vision.
-
Complete the remaining fields on the Create Project from a Plan dialog box.
You must include all WBS mapping information. For each row of the project plan, you must assign
Project,
Phase, and
Task numbers for each WBS level, or Vision cannot create the project.
-
Click
OK.
Vision closes the Create Project from a Plan dialog box and opens a new project record in the Project Info Center. The information from the plan is entered in the appropriate fields in the new project record.
If the
Auto Calc option is selected on the Planning Options menu, the
Compensation,
Consultant Fee, and
Reimbursable Allowance fields on the Accounting tab of the Project Info Center display this information.
If the
Compensation Values by Row and Period option is selected on the Plan Settings form in Planning Configuration, the
Compensation, Consultant Fee, and
Reimbursable Allowance fields are copied from the project level to the corresponding task level. Data for these fields displays on the Accounting tab of the Project Info Center.
-
On the tabs of the Project Info Center form, enter additional project information.
-
Click
Save.
