Use general ledger budgeting groups to construct sets of general ledger budgets for each division, department, or other group in your firm or organization. These budget groups make it possible to review, edit, approve, and report on multiple budgets at once.
Security
You can configure user access to general ledger budget groups based on the organizations associated with the budgets that are included in each group. For example, if your firm has 3 business units and each business unit is composed of 10 teams, your business leader should only see his 10 teams. He should not see the groups that contain budget information for the other business units.
Access to general ledger budget records is based on the organization record access defined on the general tab of Role Security. A user must have access to all budgets associated with a group to have access to the general ledger budget group.
Multicompany
If you use the Multicompany feature, each general ledger budget group is associated with one company. You can create a General Ledger budget group that includes budgets from multiple companies. For example, you can create a group for a similar discipline that exists across multiple companies. The lookup insert within the detail budget grid will be limited to budgets that are in the same currency as the functional currency of the active company that is associated with the General Ledger budget group.
Multicurrency
If you are using the Multicurrency feature, you see budgets across all companies that are in the same currency as the functional currency of the active company that is associated with the General Ledger budget group.
