Upload Custom Reports from a Workstation into Vision
Use the Custom Reports tab in the Report Administration utility to upload custom reports (.RDL files) that are located on a workstation into Vision.
If your firm uses the Deltek First Vision Essentials cloud version, you must add a 10-digit client ID followed by an underscore as a prefix to the .RDL file name before you upload it into Vision. If the client ID is less than 10 digits, enter zeros to the beginning of the client ID to make a total of 10 digits. For example, if the client ID is 123456 and you want to name the file "Accounts," then the .RDL file should be named "0000123456_Accounts.RDL."
If a report has multiple .RDL files (subreports), you must upload each subreport individually.
To upload a custom report, complete the following steps:
- From the Vision Navigation menu, click Utilities > Report Administration.
- On the Report Administration form, click the Custom Reports tab.
- On the Load Custom Reports grid toolbar, click Upload.
- On the Select Custom Report File to Upload dialog box, select an RDL file to upload, and click Open.
- In the Load Custom Reports grid, click the Location field. Click the drop-down button, and select the Vision Reporting submenu from which the report will be available to users. For custom reports for any user-defined Info Center, select User Defined Info Center.
- In the grid, add more reports to upload as needed by repeating the steps above. If a custom report has subreports, you must add each subreport individually in the grid.
- Click Save. The custom reports are uploaded to Vision when you save. You will not see a status bar, and it may take a few minutes to upload.
- When the reports finish uploading, click OK on the dialog box that informs you that the reports have been loaded. The name of the report now displays in the Name field and the upload status can be verified in the Status column in the Load Custom Reports grid.
You must log out and then log back into Vision to see the custom reports added to the submenus under the Reporting menu. The custom reports also display in the Report Name drop-down list in Configuration > General > Custom Report Options, where you can add parameters to them.
