How Planning Calculates ETC
Estimate-to-completion (ETC) amounts are estimates of the total additional cost or hours, beyond the actual cost or hours, that are required to complete the work. The ETC is calculated based on the application, Vision or Navigator, in which the plan was created.
For example, if the plan was created in Vision, the ETC for labor, expenses, and consultants applies the Vision calculation. Likewise, if the plan was created in Navigator, the ETC for labor, expenses, and consultants applies the Navigator calculation. It also considers the ETC/JTD Date Basis setting on the ETC & JTD Date Basis dialog box on the Planning Options menu in Vision. Navigator uses Today's Date for the ETC/JTD Date Basis. This setting determines the date after which the planned amounts are summed. For example, when set to Today's Date, the ETC amount is the sum of all planned amounts dated tomorrow and beyond.
If you convert a plan from one application to the other, the ETC calculation is converted as well.
Plans managed in Vision calculate ETC as the sum of all planned labor, expense, or consultant numbers, at billing or cost, whose dates are greater than the selected date basis (Today's Date, Period End Date, Specific Date) through the end of the plan.
