Use this tab to enter or view the information that identifies an equipment item.
When equipment items are generated automatically from line items on purchase orders, change orders, or release orders for blanket purchase orders, many of the fields on the General tab prefill from the entries that were made for the line items on the purchase, change, or release orders.
Equipment Section

Item Number
|
For equipment items that were generated automatically from purchase order, change order, or release order line items, this field prefills with the item number that was entered for the line item on the purchase, change, or release order.
If you are manually entering a new equipment item, click
in this field, and on the Items lookup, select an equipment item. These are items that you set up in Items Master Configuration in
. Only the items with a category type of Equipment or Capital Items are included on the lookup. You cannot add inventory items to the Equipment Info Center.
You assign types to item categories on the Item Categories tab in
. You specify categories for a company on the Item Categories tab in

Description
|
This field prefills with the description that is entered for an item in the Items Master configuration in
. You can change the description as needed.

Equipment Number
|
When an equipment item is generated automatically from a purchase order, change order, or request order, the
Equipment Number field prefills with the number that is entered in the
Equipment Number field in the Next Numbers section on the General tab in
. You can change the prefilled number for the equipment item as needed.
When you enter a new equipment item directly in the Equipment Info Center, the
Equipment Number field is blank. It will fill with the number that is entered in the
Equipment Number field in the Next Numbers section on the General tab in
when you save the equipment item. However, you can enter a different number in the
Equipment Number field. When you save the equipment item, your number will not be overwritten by the next number in Purchasing & Inventory Company Settings.
The number in the Next Numbers
Equipment Number field in Purchasing & Inventory Company Settings is incremented each time a new equipment item is created. If the incremented number has already been used, Vision uses the next available unused number.

Model Number
|
If applicable, enter a model number for the equipment item.

Category
|
This field prefills with the category for the equipment item, based on the item number that is entered in the
Item Number field.
You set up items in Items Master configuration in

. You specify categories for a company on the Item Categories tab in

Type
|
This field prefills with the category type for the equipment item, based on the item number that is entered in the
Item Number field and the category in the
Category field. The
Type field prefills with
Equipment or
Capital Items, the only types that can be used for equipment items.
Each category that you set up for purchasing items is assigned a type on the Item Categories tab in
.

Serial Number
|
If applicable, enter a serial number for the equipment item.
|
National Stock Number
|
This field prefills with the stock number for the equipment item, based on the item number that is entered in the
Item Number field. You enter the stock number on the General tab of the Items Master form for an item in
.

Project Section
This section contains information for the project that is associated with the equipment item. Equipment items must have one associated project.

|
This field prefills with the name of the project, based on the project number that is entered in the
Number field.

Phase Number
|
This field is enabled if the project that is entered in the
Number field has phases (work breakdown structure 2).
For equipment items that were generated automatically from purchase order, change order, or release order line items, this field prefills if a phase was entered for the purchase order line item on the Default Distribution tab of the purchase order.
If you are manually entering a new equipment item, click
in this field, and select a phase for the equipment item.

Phase Name
|
This field prefills with the name of the phase, based on the phase number that is entered in the
Phase Number field.

Task Number
|
This field is enabled if the phase that is entered in the
Phase field has tasks (work breakdown structure 3).
For equipment items that were generated automatically from purchase order, change order, or release order line items, this field prefills if a task was entered for the purchase order line item on the Default Distribution tab of the purchase order.
If you are manually entering a new equipment item, click
in this field, and select a task for the equipment item.

Task Name
|
This field prefills with the name of the task, based on the task number that is entered in the
Task Number field.

Extra Notes

For equipment items that were generated automatically from purchase order, change order, or release order line items, this text box prefills from the text from the
Extra Notes text box for the line item in Purchasing. To access this text box on the purchase, change, or release order, open the Line Items tab and select the line item in the grid. Click
View Detail on the grid toolbar. On the Purchase Order Line Detail dialog box, click the Notes tab.
If you are manually entering a new equipment item, enter any additional comments or requests for this equipment item in the text box.
The text in this text box prints on both reports and forms.

Internal Notes
|
For equipment items that were generated automatically from purchase order, change order, or release line items, this text box prefills with the text from the
Internal Notes text box for the line item in Purchasing. To access this field on the purchase, change, or release order, open the Line Items tab and select the line item in the grid. Click
View Detail on the grid toolbar. On the Purchase Order Line Detail dialog box, click the Notes tab.
If you are manually entering a new equipment item, enter any internal comments or requests for this equipment item in the text box.
The text in this text box prints on reports, but not on forms.
