Utilities Overview
Vision includes a set of utilities, available from the Utilities menu, that perform maintenance, setup, data import and other functions in your Vision database.
You can restrict access to Utilities, as well as all other menu items, through Security Configuration.

- Change Company Utility
If you use the Multicompany feature, the Change Company utility enables you to change the company on which you are currently working, without logging out of Vision. - Change Period Utility
Use the Change Period utility to select the accounting period in which you want to work (your active period). You can also specify that the latest period be the default active period when you open Vision. - Open New Period Utility
Use the Open New Period dialog box to open a new accounting period. If you have multiple companies, the new period is created for all companies, but you have the option to open it for all companies or just for the currently active company. - Period Setup Utility
Use the Period Setup utility to close and reopen accounting periods, set up the number of periods per year, and change the starting and ending dates for each accounting period. If Vision is configured to support multiple companies, you can open or close a period for the active company only or for all companies. - Open New Benefit Year Utility
Use the Open New Benefit Year utility to start tracking time earned and taken for a new benefit year. You can have only one active benefit accrual year. You cannot have different active benefit years for different employees. - Open New W-2 Quarter Utility
Use the Open New W-2 Quarter utility to open a new quarter for the purpose of tracking payroll data. - 1099 Initialization Utility
Use the 1099 Initialization utility to clear out and store 1099 data from the previous year and start accumulating 1099 data for the new year. - User Activity Utility
The User Activity utility makes it possible for System Administrators to see information about active logged-on users, the applications they use, process server activity, and queue names. - Advanced Utilities Overview
The advanced utilities give you control over tasks such as batch deletions, search and replace, and data import. - Key Conversions Overview
Use Key Conversions to change certain Vision numbers or codes in your database to new numbers or codes. The changes that you make with the Key Conversion utility apply to all of the data in your database. - Key Formats Overview
For certain numbers or codes in you database, you can use the Key Formats utilities to change the length of the code, specify a delimiter, or specify a delimiter position. - Process Server Utilities Overview
Use the process server to run Vision processing jobs involving large amounts of data. The process server sends these lengthy jobs to the Vision application server, where they run in the background. - History Loading Utilities Overview
As part of installing Vision, you enter historical information about your projects and accounts, including labor and expenses accumulated on projects, account balances, and outstanding transactions. - Files Administration Utility
Search for and view the supporting documents that were uploaded for Vision transactions, and confirm that the files are synchronized between the Vision and FILESTREAM databases. - Backup Database Overview
Use the Backup Database utility to make a full backup of the Vision database. - Report Administration Utility
Use the Report Administration utility to perform report-related maintenance activities. - Download Merge Code Macro Utility
Vision Proposals comes installed with a set of merge codes you can use to modify sample and default merge templates and create new merge templates, in Microsoft Word. To access these merge codes, you must download the merge code macro and save it to your Word startup folder. - Download Integration Utility
Use the Download Integration utility to download the software files necessary to use the Microsoft Office Integration feature, which integrates Vision with Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Outlook. - Download Connect for Microsoft Outlook Utility
Use the Connect for Microsoft Outlook utility to download the add-in software needed to use the Connect for Microsoft Outlook feature. - Weblink Utility Overview
Weblink is a utility that system administrators can use to connect the Vision application and report servers to a Vision database, and configure additional account information, such as the account that will be used to submit reports to the report server.
