Assign Access Rights for Dashboards

You can specify the employees or user roles who are authorized to access a dashboard.

You must have the appropriate access rights to assign access rights for a dashboard. Be sure to take Resource Planning licensing requirements into account when assigning dashboard access rights to employees; see Resource Planning User Indicators for more information.

These steps do not apply when you are using Vantagepoint on a tablet or smart phone.

To assign access rights for dashboards:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Dashboards and then select one of these actions:
    • If no dashboards have been created, select Dashboard.
    • If one or more dashboards exist, select a dashboard under one of these submenus: My Dashboards, Personal, or All Dashboards. The submenus available depend on your role’s access rights.
  2. On the Dashboard form, click Edit Mode to enable editing.

The Edit Mode toggle option is not enabled when you use a tablet or smart phone to access Vantagepoint.

  3. In the list of dashboards in the Navigation pane, select the dashboard to which you want to assign access rights.
  4. On the edit mode toolbar, click Share.
  5. On the Share this Dashboard dialog box, select user roles from the Roles field or select employees from the Employees field.
If you share a dashboard by role, and the role has rights to save personal dashboards only, the dashpart access rights for the role is automatically updated to make sure that the users of the role can access all the dashparts in the dashboard that you are sharing. If you share a dashboard by employee, access rights for dashparts need to be manually assigned to the Employee’s role on the Access Rights tab in Settings > Security > Roles only if it is appropriate for all employee’s in that role to view the dashparts.
  6. Repeat the process as needed and then click Save.
  7. Click Save on the Dashboard form.
The dashboard that you configured immediately becomes available to the roles or employees that you specified.
