Welcome to the Deltek Vantagepoint 6.5.1 Release Notes, which describe the new features and enhancements introduced in this release.

These release notes address all of the modules associated with Deltek Vantagepoint 6.5, some of which your firm may not use. Skip the sections that do not apply to your implementation of Deltek Vantagepoint.

Known Issue

Vision to Vantagepoint Upgrade Project Plans

The following known issue is scheduled to be fixed in the 6.5.2 and 6.0.7 maintenance releases that will be deployed October 30 – November 3, 2023.

When you upgrade to Vantagepoint from Vision, you see a “Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint...” error displayed in the error log if the upgrade encounters a project plan where an expense, consultant, or unit assignment is on a WBS level and that same WBS level has planned labor codes under it on the Labor tab. After you encounter the error, no more project plans are upgraded even if the plans don’t have the same condition.


Regulatory Enhancements


State

Illinois 2023 Tax Update

The value of the state allowance decreases from $2,625 to $2,425.

An additional formula was added to Illinois’s withholding method to correct withholdings for existing employees for the remainder of 2023. The formula is the same as the standard formula, but uses an allowance value of $2,225. A formula with an allowance value of $2,425 is also included, but should only be used for new employees.

Indiana 2023 Tax Table Update

The update for Indiana is effective September 15, 2023.

Employees are entitled to deduct $1,500 per year per qualifying first-time dependent exemption claimed on line 7 of their Form WH-4. For more information, see the Indiana Department of Revenue Departmental Notice #1: https://www.in.gov/dor/files/dn01.pdf


Enhancements


General

Vantagepoint Now Provides the Smart Summaries™ Tool for Rapidly Generating Client Briefings

The Smart Summaries tool is now available in the Firms form (Hubs » Firms) and will be rolled out in other hubs in future releases. Use this new tool to rapidly build client Smart Summary briefings using AI-generated technology and your client data. The client Smart Summary highlights important information about your client, including recent activities, top pursuit projects, active projects, completed projects, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).   

 To activate Smart Summaries:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Settings » General » Options.

  2. In the Global Options section, select the Enable AI Generated Summaries checkbox to turn on the Smart Summaries feature for the Firms form.

  3. In response to the confirmation message that provides information about access--as well as recommendations that you review and verify the accuracy of each client Smart Summary that you generate--click Accept to turn on Smart Summaries or click Cancel to cancel the activation.

  4. Click Save

 

To build a client Smart Summary:

  1. In the Navigation pane, select Hubs » Firms » Firms.

  2. In the Find Firm quick search field, find and select a client firm. In the Summary pane, the Firm Type field should display Client (you can only use client firms for client Smart Summary briefings).

  3. In the Summary pane, click the Smart Summary button to create a client Smart Summary. A confirmation message presents information about Smart Summaries and the following disclaimer:

  1. Click the Copy to Clipboard button to save the client Smart Summary. All generated client Smart Summary briefings are stored in Vantagepoint for up to 30 minutes. Responses for each summary section are stored separately to enable you to regenerate a section if it contains an error that you subsequently correct.


Mobile

Upgrade Touch Server to PHP 8.2.10

The Touch Server for this version of the Vantagepoint mobile application has been upgraded to support the PHP 8.2.10 security release.


Vantagepoint Connect

Updated Interface

The interface for the Connect Administration integration utility (Utilities » Integrations) has been updated. While the functionality remains the same, there are navigational and visual differences, including a new navigation pane, updated toolbar and grid options, and minor changes to tab and field labels.


Software Issues Resolved


Billing >> Interactive Billing

Defect 1916432: On the Labor tab, when you selected columns to display in the Labor grid, the Labor Code Description column displayed even if your database did not use any labor code. When you tried to hide the column, you received the following error message: "Invalid column name 'LaborCodeDescription'."

Defect 1994070: On the Invoice History tab of the Interactive Billing form, when you selected an invoice and clicked Void, you did not receive a warning message informing you that the invoice would be reversed and its transactions would be returned to an unbilled status.


Hubs >> Contacts >> Contacts

Defect 1841132: In list view, you were unable to select the topmost checkbox and then delete all records in the grid. In Utilities » Batch Deletes, in the Application field, when you selected Contacts and selected Delete Records, the New Search dialog box did not provide a checkbox that you could use to select all records in the search results.


Hubs >> Firms >> Firms

Defect 1973294: When the address description for a firm contained a slash symbol, you were unable to delete the address from the firm record.


Hubs >> Projects >> Plan

Defect 1985081: This issue occurred when you displayed the Actual Hours sub-row on the Labor tab of a plan that had the same start date as the earliest timesheet transaction date for the project. When you displayed the record, you received the following error message: "Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: length."

Defect 1998344: This issue occurred when you set up Planning to use two decimal places for time entries and no decimal places for planned hours and amounts. On the Labor tab of the Plan form, when you replaced planned hours with actual hours, Vantagepoint rounded off the timesheet values for each day. This rounding resulted in a significant difference between the actual and planned values displayed for a weekly or monthly scale.

Defect 1984184: This issue occurred in the Projects hub when you included an invalid value in a user-defined field and that field was not configured with a custNumber. When you updated an affected project record, you received this error message: "The given key was not present in the dictionary."


Mobile

Defect 1988924: When you entered the company's mobile server URL and your company's URL pattern was different than the default pattern, /touch/time or /touch/crm were automatically appended to the URL and you were not able to edit the value to provide the correct URL.

Defect 1997231: This issue occurred when you enabled the biometrics feature. When you re-entered a Microsoft Authenticator code after its expiration date, you were not able to log in the mobile application.


Mobile Time and Expense

Defect 1820980: When you used facial recognition to submit an expense report, you were not able to complete the submission and you did not receive an error message.


My Stuff >> Calendar

Defect 1974624: This issue occurred when you added a new timesheet entry by dragging an item in the Calendar Timesheet pane to the calendar--or by selecting Actions » New Timesheet Entry and then selecting a project from the Project/Phase/Task Lookup)--and the project for the timesheet entry was associated with a labor code. When you clicked Save on the Add Timesheet Entry dialog box, a spinning wheel indicated an error.


My Stuff >> Dashboards

Defect 1991102: This issue occurred with the Pipeline system dashpart when you set the Time Frame option to Next 6 Months (Projected) or to Next 3 Months (Projected).

If you, on the Estimated Fee tab in Hubs » Projects » Contract Management, set the Allocation Method option to Use Revenue Forecast for a project, the values in the Pipeline system dashpart for that project's first and last month in the time frame did not match the values in the Project Forecast report.


My Stuff >> Reporting

Defect 1979046: When you generated a Project Audit Detail report, duplicate values for contracts were repeatedly displayed on some pages. This issue occurred at all levels of a project that you did not create.

Defect 1982404: The Project List report did not display a value in the Cost Amount column for some firm records.

Defect 1987613: If you changed the value of the Bank Code during Vendor Payment processing, the bank information that was displayed in the Voucher Detail report and the Payment Summary dialog box (accessed from Hubs » Firms » Voucher Review) did not match.

Defect 1997541: When you ran an Account Analysis report using the Account Base Rollup option, the first Account Name was not shown as the Group Account Name.


My Stuff >> Timesheet

Defect 1955581: When an employee and approver simultaneously accessed the same timesheet record, Vantagepoint allowed both users to update the timesheet and did not display an error message when a prior timesheet submission had been made.

Defect 1973280: This issue occurred when you configured projects to validate time records based on the project plan. When you saved or submitted a timesheet, you received an "exceeded planned hours" warning message but the message did not provide any project information.


Proposals >> Custom Proposals

Defect 1991537: This issue occurred when you configured the location of a project on the Overview tab of Hubs » Projects » Project by entering a value in the County field instead of selecting the value from the County option drop-down list on the Location dialog box. When you generated a custom proposal that included the country location of a project, the country value for any affected project was not displayed in the custom proposal.


Resource Management >> Reporting

Defect 2001056: In the Resources report, the Range Available Hours column duplicated the hours for each assignment and displayed an incorrect utilization percentage for the resource.


Settings

Defect 1961022: When you inserted a new organization code in the Organization grid, the date on which the new code was created was not saved in the CreateDate column in the Organization table in the database.


Settings >> Billing >> Accounts Receivable

Defect 1958569: This issue occurred on the Cash Receipts Mapping Accounts grid of the Accounts Receivable settings form. The grid listed Other as an AR Column option, which did not exist, and you received the following error message: “Code 0 does not exist. The value for field ARColumn will not be set.”


Settings >> General >> Screen Designer

Defect 1994505: This issue occurred when you added a custom label, moved it to the Summary pane of a hubs form, and then added a new custom label without saving. The next custom label that you add had the same Field ID and Caption value as the custom label that you previously moved to the Summary pane.


Settings >> Workflow >> Approval Workflows

Defect 2000624: If fields in the workflow steps previously had EM as the base table and you later changed the value to EMCompany, the Lookup icon in the Value column became unavailable for those fields.


Utilities

Defect 1921822: When you imported Project Labor data in Desktop Utilities » Import with Reg Hours = 0 and OT Hours > 0, the billing extension was not populated with the import file data.


Utilities >> Integrations >> Connect Add-in

Defect 1924746: This issued occurred when you selected the Project Details button. Vantagepoint fields that were hidden, secured, or accounting-related were visible even though they should not have been.


Utilities >> Integrations >> Connect Administration

Defect 1763434: In the Vantagepoint Connect Add-in, the Cost Method field was incorrectly included in the Employee Details and in the Edit Employee screen. This caused an error when you edited the employee record.
