Special Topic: Costpoint Multicompany

Overview

Deltek Time & Expense with Employee Self Service supports Costpoint's multicompany option.

You must configure Costpoint multicompany when initializing the database. Do NOT turn this feature on or off after the system has been initialized. Please contact support to discuss changing Costpoint multicompany options in Deltek Time & Expense with Employee Self Service.

How it Works

First, the interface creates employee groups for each Costpoint company. It also creates charge trees based on company. Using the charge tree restriction feature, you can limit a company to the charges contained in their charge tree.

When you create a timesheet or an expense report, the system stamps your company on it from the most current Employee History record. When you do a charge Lookup, the system restricts you to your company's project charges. After you select a project, the Costpoint multicompany feature restricts certain UDT values to the employee's or project's company.

You can export timesheets or expense reports for only one Costpoint company in the same batch.  This is a Costpoint limitation.

In order to limit valid UDTs for certain Costpoint company codes, the Costpoint multicompany feature adds an additional company ID to several tables within Deltek Time & Expense with Employee Self Service. Below is a synopsis of how the company ID works for each table:

How to Initialize Costpoint Multicompany

  1. In the General Configuration screen, select the Costpoint Multicompany checkbox in the Miscellaneous tab.

  2. Within Costpoint (Download to Time Collection screen), configure Deltek Time & Expense with Employee Self Service interface for the following:

a) Create Charge Trees by Company

b) Create Employee Groups by Company

  1. Within Costpoint, execute the Deltek Time & Expense with Employee Self Service interface to download projects, employees, etc. Do a full download, rather than changes only.

  2. In the Import Console screen in the Interfaces menu in Deltek Time & Expense with Employee Self Service, execute an import on demand.

  3. In the Charge Trees screen, select each top-level charge tree and select the Restrict Access checkbox. Select the charge tree again and go to the Restrictions tab, where you can associate the company-based charge tree with the appropriate company-based employee group.
