Use this screen to add, edit, activate, or inactivate your dependents and beneficiaries. You can access it from the menu (select Benefits, then Dependents/Beneficiaries) and as part of the Life Events and Benefits Enrollment processes.
Either active or inactive information displays in the Dependents/Beneficiaries table. The system will display active records when the screen initially opens, with "Active Dependents/Beneficiaries" appearing as the table heading. If there are no active records in the system, the inactive records will then display, with the table heading appearing as "Inactive Dependents/Beneficiaries."
If there are no active or inactive records in the system, the system will display the following message: "No dependent & beneficiaries are on record."
After the table is initially displayed, you can select the View Active/View Inactive button to toggle between the different active/inactive records. You cannot directly make changes to the Active/Inactive tables; however, by selecting the appropriate action button, you can be launched to an Add screen, Edit screen, or Inactivate screen.
If you access this screen from the menu, you can view active and inactive dependents and beneficiaries. You can also update dependent/beneficiary information including first name, middle name, last name, SSN/government ID, address, and telephone.
If you access this screen from the Life Event or Benefit Enrollment processes, you can add a new dependent/beneficiary, edit all information for a dependent/beneficiary, or inactivate an existing dependent/beneficiary.
This button will display if you access the Dependents/Beneficiaries screen from either the Life Events or Benefits Enrollment process. It does not appear when you access the screen from the menu. Select the Add button to launch the Add Dependents/Beneficiaries screen, where you can enter new information.
This button displays only for active records. To edit a row, select the checkbox to the left of the row and select this button to access the Edit Dependents/Beneficiaries screen.
When you are in the active Dependents/Beneficiaries screen (Active Dependents/Beneficiaries is the table heading), the View Inactive button displays above the table. Select it to access the inactive Dependents/Beneficiaries table.
When you are in the inactive Dependents/Beneficiaries screen (Inactive Dependents/Beneficiaries is the table heading), the View Active button displays above the table. Select it to open the active Dependents/Beneficiaries table.
To edit the row for a particular dependent/beneficiary, select the checkbox to the left of the row in which the dependent/beneficiary's name appears. Then select the Edit Dependent/Beneficiary button.
The Name column contains a hyperlink when you are viewing Active Dependents/Beneficiaries records. When you select the hyperlink, the Edit Dependents/Beneficiaries screen displays, as if you had selected the Edit Dependent/Beneficiary button above the table.
This field displays the dependent/beneficiary's relationship to you.
This field displays the dependent/beneficiary's Social Security Number or government ID.
This field displays the gender of the dependent/beneficiary.
This field displays the date of birth (or date of legal agreement/document) of the dependent/beneficiary.
This field displays "Dependent," "Beneficiary," or "Dependent & Beneficiary."
If you are viewing the active Dependents/Beneficiaries table, the Inactivate button will display. If you select it and dependent or beneficiary information exists for the dependent/beneficiary, a screen will display in which you can confirm or cancel your decision to clear the dependents/beneficiary’s coverage.
If you are viewing the inactive Dependent/Beneficiaries table, the Activate button will display. Select it to assign to a benefit plan in the Life Event or Open Enrollment process.
