Field | Description |
SEARCH
|
By default, the dialog box displays all resources, but you can use either or both of the two
SEARCH fields to restrict the list:
When you select a search in the top
SEARCH field, employees are listed first, followed by generic resources, if the search results include both types of resources. However, if you use the bottom
SEARCH field, the results are sorted alphabetically by name, so employees and generic resources are likely to be intermingled.
|
RESOURCE
|
This grid column displays a list of the resources based on your entries in the two
SEARCH fields.
Select the check boxes next to the resources that you want to assign to the project. The number selected displays below the grid.
Click the name to display a tooltip containing additional employee or generic resource information. For an employee, you can view job title, organization, labor category, utilization target percentage, hours per day, status, and email address. For generic resources, you can view organization, labor category, and status.
|
SCHEDULED %
|
For each employee, this grid column displays the percentage of available hours in the plan date range that are currently scheduled for the selected project or for any other project. The plan date range used in this calculation is the date range for the highest-level WBS element displayed in
SELECT LEVEL.
Scheduled % = (Employee's total scheduled hours in plan date range / (Employee's hours per day x Total work days in plan date range)) x 100
This column is blank for generic resources.

Clear Selections
|
If you select some resources and then decide you want to clear all of those selections and start over, click
Clear Selections.
If no resources are selected, this option does not display.
|
Hard Book
|
If you consider the new assignments hard booked, select this check box.
This check box is only available if
Deltek Resource Planning is configured to use soft and hard booking and if you have the required security access to hard book assignments.
|
SELECT and LEVEL
|
In the WBS grid, expand the WBS hierarchy to display the WBS elements to which you want to assign the selected resources. You can only assign resources to the lowest-level WBS elements in each branch of the WBS. A check box displays next to those elements. You can also expand lowest-level elements to display any resources that are already assigned to them.
If you opened the Assign Resources to Project dialog box from the top-level project row in the Project View grid, the entire WBS hierarchy for that project is available in this grid. If you opened the dialog box from a lower-level WBS element, only that element and the part of the hierarchy under that element are available.
|
|
After you select the resources you want to assign and select the WBS elements to which you want to assign them, click
to make the assignments. These are only pending assignments at this point. The actual assignments and update of the plan occurs when you click the
Assign button at the bottom of the dialog box. The number of pending assignments displays next to the
Assign button.
After you click
, all selections in the WBS hierarchy are cleared, but you selections in the resource grid remain in case you want to assign the same group of resources to other WBS elements. Click
Clear Selections under the grid if you want to clear the old selections so you can pick a new group of resources.
|
|
If you add an assignment and then want to remove that assignment, hover over the resource row in the WBS grid and click
at the end of the row.
This option is only available for pending resource assignments. To delete an assignment that was added to the plan previously, use the deletion option in either the Project View grid or the Resource View grid.
