Add a Touchpoint for an Opportunity

Click on the Opportunities toolbar to add a touchpoint (a simple activity such as a meeting or a phone call) for the currently displayed opportunity. You can also add a touchpoint directly in the Touchpoints grid on the Activities tab, and you can view or edit all touchpoints for the opportunity in that grid.

A touchpoint that you add for an opportunity is also associated with the contact, if you specify one, and with the contact's company, and it displays on the Touchpoints tabs in the Contacts and Companies areas.

To add a new touchpoint for an opportunity, complete the following steps:
  1. Click to go to the Opportunities area.
  2. Use the search field immediately above the opportunity title to select the opportunity.
  3. Do either of the following:
    • Click on the Opportunities toolbar.
    • Click + Add Touchpoint below the Touchpoints grid on the Activities tab.
  4. In DATE, either enter the date for the touchpoint, or click in the field and select the date on the calendar.
  5. In CONTACT, specify the contact for the touchpoint.
    • To search for and display a list of contacts with names (first, middle, last, or preferred names) that contain a specific sequence of characters, type the characters in the field and pause. (You can also search for a first name - last name or preferred name - last name combination.)
    • To display the full list, click at the end of the field.
    • If the contact has not yet been added in Deltek Resource Planning, you can click + New Contact at the bottom of the selection list to display the Add Contact form and add the contact.
  6. In NOTE, enter any notes about the touchpoint (purpose, result, and so on).
  7. If the opportunity is associated with a Kona space, you are a member of that space, and you want to create a task in Kona related to the touchpoint, do the following:
    1. If you are adding the touchpoint in the Add Touchpoint dialog box, select Create Kona Task. If you are adding the touchpoint directly in the Touchpoints grid on the Activities subtab, hover over the touchpoint's row and click near the end of the row to open the Create Kona Task dialog box. (If you receive a message indicating that you must save the touchpoint before you can create a task for it, click anywhere outside the touchpoint's grid row to save it, and then click .)
    2. In TASK NAME, enter a name or description for the task.
    3. In ASSIGNEE, specify the person to whom you want to assign the task. To display the full list of space members, click in the field. To search for and display a list of space members with names (first, middle, last, or preferred names) that contain a specific sequence of characters, type the characters in the field and pause.
    4. If there is a date by which the task should be completed, either enter the date in DUE DATE, or click in the field and select the date on the calendar.
    5. If you entered the Kona task information in the Create Kona Task dialog box, click Create.
  8. If you are adding the touchpoint in the Add Touchpoint dialog box, click Add.

    If you are adding the touchpoint in the grid on the Activities tab, your entries are saved automatically when you move the focus off of that row.
