System Labels and Custom Labels

You can use the Labels tab in the Customization area of the Configuration workspace to replace the default Deltek Resource Planning labels with those that are used in your firm (for example, replace the default "Client" with "Customer"). If you enter a custom label, it is used throughout the Deltek Resource Planning user interface in place of the system label.

This option enables you to easily modify Deltek Resource Planning to use key terms that are in use in your firm and familiar to your employees.

About the Labels

Deltek Resource Planning uses key terms in its default labels that are in common use among Deltek customers. However, many customers substitute at least a few of their own labels for the default labels.

On the Labels tab in the Customization area of the Configuration workspace, the SYSTEM LABEL column displays a set of "standard" labels as a baseline. That column is for reference only. The labels in the CUSTOM LABEL column are the labels that Deltek Resource Planning actually uses.

To replace a default label with your own label, enter your label in CUSTOM LABEL. Many terms also have a label for the plural form so make sure that you change that label as well.

Default Labels

This table lists the default labels, along with a brief definition of each to help you map these labels to the terms that you use, if these are not familiar to you.

Label	Definition
Business Development Lead	An employee of your firm who manages the firm's business development efforts. This system label is only available if you activated the CRM module.
Client	A business or government agency with which you have, or hope to have, a contract to provide goods or services.
Company	A client, vendor, subcontractor, government agency, or competitor that is in some way associated with your opportunities or projects. This system label is only available if you activated the CRM module.
Contact	An employee of, or consultant for, a client, vendor, subcontractor, government agency, or competitor through whom your firm can communicate with the contact's company. This system label is only available if you activated the CRM module.
Employee	An employee of your firm.
Estimate at Completion	Forecast of the final cost of work performed: Actual cost of work performed to date + Estimate of the cost to complete the remaining work (ETC).
EAC	Estimate at Completion. This label cannot exceed five characters.
Estimate to Complete	Best estimate of the cost required to complete the remaining authorized work.
ETC	Estimate to Complete. This label cannot exceed five characters.
Job to Date	Equivalent term: inception to date (ITD). Refers to aggregate values that represent some aspect of total performance from the beginning of a project through a specified date, such as today's date. For example, job-to-date revenue as of today is the total revenue earned for the project through today.
JTD	Job to Date. This label cannot exceed five characters.
Marketing Coordinator	An employee of your firm who is responsible for pursuing one or more opportunities. This system label is only available if you activated the CRM module.
Opportunity	A potential contract to provide goods or services to a client.
Organization	A specific component of your firm's operational structure.
Principal	An employee of your firm who oversees the firm's services in connection with one or more projects and who may have ownership interest in your firm. This system label is only available if you activated the CRM module.
Project	Top level of the work breakdown structure.
Project Manager	An employee of your firm who is directly responsible for managing one or more projects.
Proposal Manager	An employee of your firm who manages the proposal process. This system label is only available if you activated the CRM module.
Subconsultant	A company that participates with your firm in pursuing an opportunity and/or provides a subset of the goods or services to the client if you win the contract. A subcontractor. This system label is only available if you activated the CRM module.
Supervisor	An employee of your firm who has supervisory responsibility for a group of employees.

Custom Labels and Deltek Resource Planning Help

If you substitute your own custom label for a default label, your custom label displays in place of the default label throughout the Deltek Resource Planning user interface. It will not, however, appear in the online help for Deltek Resource Planning. The online help only uses the default labels.
