After you select the .CSV file and click Next, the Import Opportunities From CSV dialog box displays a different set of controls so you can map the fields in the .CSV file to Deltek Resource Planning fields and start the import process.

Field Description
Do not import duplicate records If you do not want the import process to import any information for an opportunity that already exists in Deltek Resource Planning, select this option.
Update duplicate records If you want the import process to update fields in Deltek Resource Planning for an opportunity that already exists, select this option. If a field in the existing opportunity record is blank or contains information that is different from information in the mapped field in the .CSV file, the field in the existing record is updated with the information from the .CSV file.
SOURCE FILE FIELD

This column contains the field names from your .CSV file.

Deltek Resource Planning assumes that the first row of the .CSV file is a header row and that the values in that row are the field names.

DELTEK FIELD

Use the fields in this column to select the Deltek Resource Planning opportunity field that corresponds to each of the .CSV file fields that you want to import. If the .CSV file contains fields that you do not want to import, select Do not import for those fields. (If you need to select Do not import, it is located at the end of the drop-down list.) The drop-down list for this column contains all fields for which you can import data, including custom fields.

The first time you display this dialog box, it attempts to provide default field mappings based on the field names in your .CSV file and the field names in Deltek Resource Planning. Review those default mappings and change any that are incorrect. Thereafter, your previous field mappings display by default.

SAMPLE VALUE This column displays the value for each field from the first data row in your .CSV file.
Opportunities to be imported This field displays the number of opportunity records that your .CSV file contains.
Import

To start the import process, click this button.

If any of the imported opportunity records include a company or a contact that does not yet exist in Deltek Resource Planning, a list of those companies and contacts display on the New Company/Contact Records dialog box. Review the list, clear the check boxes for any companies or contacts that you do not want the import process to create, and click Add Selected Records.

The import process does the following:
  • It adds records for opportunities that do not exist in Deltek Resource Planning.
  • If you selected Update duplicate records, it updates mapped fields in Deltek Resource Planning based on the information in the .CSV file for any opportunities that already exist in Deltek Resource Planning.
  • It adds records for any new companies or contacts that you selected on the New Company/Contacts Records dialog box.
Cancel To close the dialog box without running the import process, click this button. If you mapped fields, you will have to do the mapping again if you decide to run the import at a later time.
