System Polling Tab
Use this tab to set options defining how often a PPM application checks to see if there is information the system is trying to send to the user.
Field | Description |
---|---|
Polling Interval | Enter a value that determines how frequently an application checks the database for relevant information or updates. This value is used by applications, such as Cobra and Open Plan, to specify how often the PPM application should check for messages from the administrator or to see if users are being logged out for system maintenance.
The value should not exceed 86,400 for seconds, 3,600 for minutes, or 24 for hours, depending on the selected Polling Interval unit. By default, the Polling Interval value is set to 30 seconds. When you clear the value, this field is set to 0. The defined value in this field may affect the way an application responds. The more frequently it checks the database for relevant information, the slower the application may run.
Note: Setting a very small polling interval value could affect system performance.

Max Time Inactivity | Enter a maximum time of inactivity allowed in the PPM application before it closes.
By default, this field is set to 0. A value of 0 means that your session never expires. When the maximum time of inactivity has elapsed, a warning message displays, informing you that the application terminates in a specific time (for example, in 20 seconds). Clicking Close stops the time-out process, and allows you to continue your current session. |
Inactivity Unit | This field displays Minutes and is always disabled. |
