The Deltek PM Compass Help system is a comprehensive tool that provides end-user help for all areas of the PM Compass application. The help system, which is launched from links within the PM Compass application, is organized into self-contained books that you can open from the help system's Table of Contents. Each book contains all the help topics related to a specific part of the application. The PM Compass Help system also contains a glossary of terms used in the application.
Topics in the online Help system include links that, when selected, provide more details related to a displayed topic. These key features are explained below:
Overviews — Overview topics provide general information about an application area or a business process or function, and they contain links to related procedural and form-level help topics.
Procedures — Procedure topics provide step-by-step instructions for completing a process or function.
Form-Level (Tab & Field Descriptions) — Form-level topics provide descriptions of PM Compass forms and explain the data entry requirements for each field on a form or dialog box. You can access help that is specific to a form by clicking the Help button on the form toolbar.
Links — Links are automatic jumps from the current topic to another topic or to a Web site that offers more information. They are identified by a word or a series of words in blue lettering with a solid line under them. Clicking this word or phrase brings you from the current topic to the selected topic or Web site. Click the browser's Back button to return to the original topic.
Pop-ups — Pop-ups are descriptions or explanations displayed when you click a How? link. The text displays in a box overlayed onto the current topic. Click anywhere outside of the pop-up to make the pop-up disappear. You can also print pop-ups. To do so, right-click your mouse inside the pop-up then select Print.
Drop-down Text — Drop-downs are used in the online Help system to display form or dialog box locations or links relevant to the Help topic you selected. Drop-down information displays below the current text. Click a drop-down link to open and click again to close.
We encourage you to use the help as much as possible. You can access it any time you are working in the application. Just click the Help button on the upper right corner of the application toolbar.
When you click the Help button, PM Compass displays a drop-down list with the following options:
Contents — Select this option to display the PM Compass Help System.
Internal Help Desk — Select this option to display the Send Email dialog box. Use this dialog box to compose and send a message to a designated Help Desk mailbox. You can send emails directly to Deltek Customer Care or you can set up an internal Help Desk mailbox to respond to questions from your staff.
Customer Care Connect — Select this option to display the Deltek Customer Care Connect site. You must have a user name and password to access this site. You can register by contacting your Support Contact Manager (SCM).
Knowledge Base — Select this option to display the Knowledge Base page of the Customer Care Connect site.
Contact Us — Select this option to display the contact information for the Deltek customer care group in your location.
About — Select this option to view application, database, and server information for PM Compass.
