Use the Automatically Update Baseline Dates When a Change Causes the Activity Dates to Change option to define the default setting for the PMC Include in Baseline field in Open Plan. If you select this option and the activity change caused an activity date change (for example, adding a target date or changing a duration), the baseline dates of the activity and all associated activities linked to a work package are updated.
During a modeling session, PM Compass uses the Automatically Update Baseline Dates When a Change Causes the Activity Dates to Change option to determine whether or not to update the baseline dates of the activity and all associated activities linked to a work package, depending on the value populated in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field in Open Plan.
When you select the Automatically Update Baseline Dates When a Change Causes the Activity Dates to Change option, the following rules for updating the baseline dates of all associated activities apply:
If all activities with a change number have a Yes or Y in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field, the baseline dates of all associated activities will be updated.
If all activities with a change number have a No or N in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field, the baseline dates of all associated activities will not be updated.
If all activities with a change number have a blank/empty value in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field, the baseline dates of all associated activities will not be updated.
If some activities with a change number have a Yes or Y in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field and some have a No or N in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field, the baseline dates will only be updated for the activities with a Yes or Y in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field.
If an activity is deleted, the above rules apply as if the deleted activity is an activity with a change number and a Yes or Y in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field.
If you enter a value other than a Yes or Y or a No or N, it will be evaluated as a No or N.
When you clear the Automatically Update Baseline Dates When a Change Causes the Activity Dates to Change option, but you want to update the baseline dates of all associated activities, you must enter a Yes or Y in the PMC Update Baseline Dates field of all activities for which you want the baseline dates to be updated.
The PMC Update Baseline Dates field defaults to Y or Yes when you perform one of the following:
Add an activity
Delete an activity
Edit an activity field
Activity ID
Activity Type
Actual Finish
Actual Start
Activity Calendar
Duration
Progress Type
Progress Value
Target Finish Type
Target Start Type
Target Finish Date
Target Start Date
Expected Finish Date
