If you have not calculated the forecast in this period before creating a Forecast Change Request, you have more options to edit the forecast.
If there is forecast data in the current period, you can edit the current period forecast. This is helpful if you are using the Retain EAC forecast method and want to change the current period forecast to match the actual costs that were loaded. This is only applicable where you are editing the forecast prior to calculating for the current period.
The actual costs do not display in the change class row. The existing spread row contains all of the classes in the cost set selected in Workflow Type Configuration on the Cost Details on Form tab. However, the change class row only displays the time phased forecast class. This makes it easier to change the forecast in the current period when there are actual costs in the current period.
If the forecast dates were changed before you created the forecast change request and you did not calculate the forecast, you can edit any additional time phased periods within the forecast dates. When you display the Costs tab, any new periods within the expanded forecast display as editable with zero value. If you navigate away from the work package without changing any of the time phased periods, the zero value records are not saved. This helps ensure that the forecast calculations follow the standard rules of stretching or shrinking the curve within the new forecast dates. If you do edit values in the time phased grid, that information is saved and copied to the live project when the workflow is completed.
