Use this dialog box on the Reporting form to create or modify calculated fields for reports that have columns. Calculated fields that are created or modified are specific to the current report.
These calculated fields can be used in user-generated reports.
Click to delete calculated fields.
A confirmation message displays after you click this button.
Click to display the PM Compass Help screen for this topic.
Enter a description or column name for the calculated field.
Enter the specific heading name of the report column for the calculated field.
Select from the drop-down list the number type to use in the calculated field.
Use this text box to change the format of the number. Click
to display the Format Number dialog box where you can specify the number
format.
Use this text box to enter the width of the report column for the calculated field. You can use this field to enter a heading that is longer than the default heading.
Select a field to add to the calculation. You can double-click the field to add it or select a field and click the Add Field button.
Click to add the selected report field to the calculation.
Use the calculator to create simple calculations using numbers, fields, math operators (/, *, -, +), brackets, and parentheses.
Numbers (0 - 9) — Click this button to insert a number into the calculation field. The number that you insert corresponds to the button label.
Math operators (/, *, -, +) — Click one of these buttons to insert a mathematical operator into the calculation field. The symbols are the following: Division (/), multiplication (*), subtraction (-) and addition (+). These symbols follow the same properties and usage as those in mathematical expressions.
Left and right parentheses — Click this button to manually group a part of the calculation in parentheses. These symbols follow the same properties and usage as the ones in mathematical expressions.
(..exp..) — To instantly enclose a part of the calculation in parentheses, select that part of the calculation in Calculation and click (..exp..).
You do not have to use Calculator to select a number or symbol. You can also enter them directly in Calculation. For example, you could use the keyboard to enter the following: [ JTD Amount] - [Compensation]
Select this to create calculations that are more complex by having conditional calculations. These symbols follow the same properties and usage as the ones in mathematical expressions.
Equals (=) — Click this button to insert a mathematical symbol used to indicate equality.
Does not equal (<>) — Click this button to insert a mathematical symbol used to indicate inequality.
Less than (<) — Click this button to insert a mathematical symbol used to indicate less than.
Greater than (>) — Click this button to insert a mathematical symbol used to indicate greater than.
Greater than or equal to (>=) — Click this button to insert a mathematical symbol used to indicate greater than or equal to.
Less than or equal to (<=) — Click this button to insert a mathematical symbol used to indicate inequality, that is less than or equal to.
LIKE — Click this button to insert a symbol indicating a LIKE condition. Use the LIKE conditions with one or more asterisks (*) as wild cards to base the calculation on the presence of specific text in a field.
AND — Click this button to insert a logical conjunction AND. This conjunction has the value of true if both of its operands are true; otherwise, a value of false.
OR — Click this button to insert a logical conjunction OR. This conjunction has the value of true if one or both of its operands are true; otherwise, a value of false.
Click to undo the last modification made to the calculation. If the calculation uses a condition then the last field in the Calculation group box that is updated is affected.
Click to clear the calculation. If the calculation uses a condition then all the fields in the Calculation group box are cleared.
Click to verify if the calculation is valid.
Use this group box to view the fields that are used for the calculation. The fields that display depend on whether or not you Use a Condition.
If the calculated field does not use a condition then a single text box for the calculation displays:
Calculation Text Box — Use this text box to view and edit the equation for the calculated field.
If the calculated field does use a condition then three text boxes for the condition, calculations, and alternative calculations display.
If this is true — This field displays the condition.
Use this calculation — This field displays the calculation to use if the condition is true.
Otherwise, use this calculation — This field displays the calculation to use if the condition is false.
Select a value that will indicate whether PM Compass will perform the calculated field’s calculation on detail, subtotal lines, or total lines.
Detail Lines — If you select the Sum Up Calculated Amounts on Total Lines check box, PM Compass adds the calculated detail values to generate the subtotal values and adds the subtotals to calculate the higher-level totals.
Last Group Line — PM Compass performs the calculation on the first subtotal level. If you select the Sum Up Calculated Amounts on Total Lines check box, PM Compass adds these calculated subtotal values to determine each higher level of subtotal or total. It does not perform the calculation on detail lines.
All Detail and Total Lines — PM Compass performs the calculation on each detail, subtotal, and total line individually rather than adding the detail lines to obtain the subtotal values.
Each Row from the Query — PM Compass performs the calculation on each detail line and adds the resulting values to generate higher-level totals.
Select this check box to indicate whether PM Compass adds the calculated detail values to determine the subtotal values and adds subtotals to calculate higher-level totals.
If you clear this check box, PM Compass does not display subtotals or totals for the calculated field.
Click to save a calculated field and close the Calculated Fields dialog box.
Click to close the Calculated Fields dialog box without saving any of the changes made to the calculated fields.
