The Consultant Resource grid columns display detailed information for the consultants. Use this grid to assign specific consultant and budget information for each WBS element.
Contents
The baseline, planned, and JTD columns amounts display at either billing or cost, depending on the
Budget Type that is selected. When you select the
Budget Type, the
Billing or
Cost options display to indicate how you are viewing the plan. If both options display, you can switch between the
Billing and
Cost options and the grid's columns, amounts, and heading color update to reflect your selection. Note that as you switch between billing and cost, there may be different columns and information that display on the grid.
| Field | Description |
| Consultant Type
|
This field displays the consultant type that was already assigned to the row.
To add a new row to the grid, or to change the assigned consultant type, you must use the
Add Consultant Types lookup. See the
Use Lookups to Enter Consultant Data Overview
online help topic for more information.
When you select a different consultant type, you must note the use of JTD or baseline. If there is no assigned JTD or baseline for the consultant row, you can change the consultant type. If there is assigned JTD or baseline for the consultant row, you can select a different consultant type
only if there is also a planned amount. When you select a different consultant type, a new row is created for the consultant, and you can choose to move the planned amount to this row. The JTD and/or baseline remains on the original row.
|
| Type
|
This field displays the type of account: Direct or Reimbursable.
|

To change the consultant listed in the Consultant Name field, use the standard quick find or lookup features. See the
Use Lookups to Enter Consultant Data Overview
online help topic for more information.
When you select a different consultant name, you must note the use of JTD or baseline. If there is no assigned JTD or baseline for the consultant row, you can change the consultant name. If there is assigned JTD or baseline for the consultant row, you can select a different consultant name
only if there is also a planned amount. When you select a different consultant name, a new row is created for the consultant, and you can choose to move the planned amount to this row. The JTD and/or baseline remains on the original row.
|
| Baseline
|
This field displays the planned consultant amount that was saved as the baseline for the assigned Consultant Type.
If the project has multiple Vision plans that are included in utilization, Navigator sums the baseline amounts from the plans.
|
| Planned
|
This field displays the planned consultant amount for the assigned consultant type.
- If the project has multiple Vision plans that are included in utilization, Navigator sums the planned amounts from the plans.
- If the
Budget Type is
Cost, you must enter planned amounts for reimbursable consultant and direct consultant accounts as planned cost. No entries can be made in the field if you are looking at billing amounts in this scenario.
- If the Budget Type is
Billing, you must enter planned amounts for reimbursable consultant and direct consultant accounts as planned billing.
|
| ETC (Navigator)
|
This field displays the estimate-to-complete as calculated by Navigator for consultants. This amount is summed to higher levels of the WBS. When the planned amount is less than the JTD, the ETC (Navigator) amount defaults to zero. However, when the planned amount is greater than or equal to the JTD, the ETC (Navigator) is calculated as the planned amount minus the JTD.
Note: There is a potential discrepancy in the ETC (Navigator) amount versus what displays for the ETC in Vision. To differentiate between the two amounts, the ETC from Navigator is labeled
ETC (Navigator).
