Task Descriptions

The Task Description is an optional entry that can be used to describe an individual WBS element. If the image\winm0056_wmf.gif symbol is displayed next to the row number of a WBS element in the WBS sheet, this indicates that the element has a task description.

To view or edit a task description for a WBS element, complete the following steps:

  1. To select the WBS element, click anywhere in the WBS row on the WBS Sheet.

  2. Access the Task Description window using one of the following methods:

  3. Click image\winm0057_wmf.gif Task Description

  4. Click Tools » Task Description

  5. If the task description already exists, click the image\winm0058_wmf.gif icon in front of the row number

MPM displays the Task Description window.

The WBS ID is displayed in the title bar as a reference.

  1. Enter the descriptive text and click OK to save, or Cancel to escape out of the Task Description Window.

Editing Text

Enter the descriptive text and click OK to save, or Cancel to escape out of the Task Description window. There is a maximum of 100 lines of 78 characters per task description available in this window.

Basic text editing capabilities are incorporated within MPM. Enter your text as you would with any text editor.

If you want to enter a tab to indent text, use the Ctrl+Tab key combination. If you press only the Tab key, the selection moves to the next button at the bottom of the text box.

The Clear button clears the text so you can start over.
