Add a Link to a Frequently Used File

Within a Links dashpart, you can set up links to frequently used files that are located on your computer or on your network.

If an Administrator includes a Links dashpart when saving a Dashboard layout for other users, only those file that are on network shares will be accessible. Any file that is located on a user's hard drive will not be accessible to other users.

Prerequisite: Add a Links Dashpart.

To add a link to a file, complete the following steps:

  1. From the drop-down next to the dashpart name, select New Record.
  2. On the Add Links dialog box, select a Link Type of File.
  3. Click the File hyperlink and browse to the file.
  4. Select the file and click Open.

The filename displays in the URL Link window. GovWin Capture Management automatically includes the "http: //", "ftp://", or "file://" portion of the URL.

  5. If you want the link to be identified by a caption in the dashpart, enter a URL Caption.
  6. Click Save.
