Utilities (Desktop)
Some utilities are located in Utilities in the desktop application.
The Integrations, Imports & Exports, and Combine Firms utilities are in Utilities in the browser application.

- Change Period Utility
Use the Change Period utility to select the accounting period in which you want to work (your active period). - Change Company Utility
If DPS is set up to use multiple companies and your security role gives you access to more than one company, the Change Company utility in the desktop application enables you to change the company on which you are currently working, without logging out of DPS. - Open New Period Utility
Use the Open New Period dialog box to open a new accounting period. If you have multiple companies, the new period is created for all companies, but you have the option to open it for all companies or just for the currently active company. - Period Setup Utility
Use the Period Setup utility to close and reopen accounting periods, set up the number of periods per year, and change the starting and ending dates for each accounting period. If you use multiple companies, you can open or close a period for the active company only or for all companies. - 1099 Initialization Utility
Use the 1099 Initialization utility to clear out and store 1099 data from the previous year and start accumulating 1099 data for the new year. - User Activity Utility
The User Activity utility makes it possible for system administrators to see information about active logged-on users, the applications they use, process server activity, and queue names. - Advanced Utilities
The advanced utilities give you control over tasks such as batch deletions, search and replace, and data import. - Key Conversions
Use Key Conversions to change certain DPS numbers or codes in your database to new numbers or codes. The changes that you make with the Key Conversion utility apply to all of the data in your database. - Key Formats
For certain numbers or codes in you database, you can use the Key Formats utilities to change the length of the code, specify a delimiter, or specify a delimiter position. - Process Server Utilities
Use the process server to run DPS processing jobs involving large amounts of data. The process server sends these lengthy jobs to the DPS application server, where they run in the background. - History Loading Utility
As part of installing DPS, you enter historical information about your projects and accounts, including labor and expenses accumulated on projects, account balances, and outstanding transactions. - Backup Database Utility
Use this utility to make a full backup of the DPS database and FILESTREAM database. - Report Administration Utility
Use the Report Administration utility to monitor currently running reporting jobs and review a log of all reporting jobs, past and current. - Files Administration Utility
The external FILESTREAM database stores documents and templates that are uploaded in DPS. The Files Administration utility works with this database to allow you to search for, view, and confirm synchronization of these documents with DPS to ensure you have the most current information.
