Contents of the Revenue Methods Dialog Box

Use these fields and options to create a user-defined revenue method.

Field Description
Code Enter a unique code for the revenue method.
Description Enter a description for the revenue method.
Category

This column displays in the grid if Revenue Generation is set up to track multiple unbilled accounts using revenue categories.

Enter a revenue category for the revenue method.

After you associate a revenue method with a project, you cannot change the revenue category for a revenue method.

Fields

Click the item you want to add to the revenue formula and then click Add>>. Select each field and operator in the order in which you want it to appear in the new formula.

For each revenue method, you can use up to 30 fields.

If you use multiple currencies, an asterisk (*) beside a field indicates that any condition that results in a transaction with a zero cost amount can cause unexpected results when Revenue Generation translates from billing currency to functional currency to project currency. This revenue method is not recommended for multiple currency situations that may have a zero cost transaction.

Operators

Click the appropriate Operator button to connect the previous field you selected to the next field you select to create the revenue formula. Select each field and operator in the order you want it to appear in the new formula.

For each revenue method, you can use up to 30 operators.

Add>> After you select a field in the Fields box, click this button to add the field to the user-defined revenue formula. The field displays in the Custom Formula box.
<<Remove Click this button to remove the last item listed in the Custom Formula box.
Close Click this button to close the form after responding to the prompt Do you want to save your changes?
Custom Formula

This area displays the formula for the revenue method as you build it using the items in the Fields box and the Operator buttons.

Select an item from the Fields box, click Add>>, and then click an Operator button to connect the next piece of the formula. Select each field and operator in the order you want it to appear in the new formula.

For each revenue method, you can use up to 30 fields and operators.
